Ottawa, ON – The Eastern Ontario Junior Hockey League (EOJHL) is pleased to announce that Athens Aeros forward Cole Shepherdson has been named the Week 1 Source for Sports Player of the Week.
The 2006-born Brockville, ON native opened the 2026-27 season with three goals and four assists for seven points in two games, helping the Aeros earn two of a possible four points.
Shepherdson began the week with a four-point performance, recording a goal and three assists in a high-scoring 8-6 loss to the Brockville Tikis on Wednesday. He followed that up with another three points on Sunday, scoring twice and adding an assist — including the game-winning goal — as Athens defeated the Winchester Hawks 6-2 in its home opener.
One of the Aeros’ key offseason additions, Shepherdson joined Athens after spending the previous two seasons with the Hearst Lumberjacks of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL).
