Alexandria makes flurry of moves during the Roster Deadline

 

Ottawa, Ontario – The December 1st roster deadline was busy which included four trades being made by the Alexandria Glens. Also making some moves were Winchester, Casselman and the Char-Lan Rebels during the weekend.

First Trade: Winchester trades ’02 Forward Nicolas Corry to the Alexandria Glens in exchange for a PDF.

Corry, 18, is in his first season in CCHL Tier 2. During his time with the Winchester Hawks, he played 18 games and collected three goals and three assists. The Gloucester, Ontario native played with the Gloucester Rangers Midget AA team last year and had 15 goals and 27 assists in 30 games.

Second Trade: Alexandria trades ’01 D Hunter MacPherson and ’01 D Lochlan MacDonald to the Char-Lan Rebels in exchange for ’02 D Josh Weatherall, ’02 F Reese Donnelly and ’00 D Evan Huntley.

MacPherson, 18, is in his second season in CCHL Tier 2. He spent a full year with Alexandria last year by collecting 12 points in 43 games. The Dalkeith, Ontario native was drafted by the Cornwall Colts in the 6th round of the Bantam Protected Draft in 2016. With Alexandria this season, he has one goal, three assists and four points in his first 20 games of the regular season.

MacDonald, 18, used to spent a little bit of time with the Char-Lan Rebels two years ago by playing in 4 games as an AP. He was drafted by the Cornwall Colts after collecting 39 points in 32 games with the Eastern Ontario Cobras Midget AA team. He’s in his second year in CCHL Tier 2. So far this season, he has one goal, three assists, four points in 13 games this season.

Weatherall, 16, is in his first season of CCHL Tier 2 after he played for the Brockville Braves in U18. This is now his third team that he’ll be on this season. Weatherall has played 10 games with Casselman, 7 games with Char-Lan and has one assists.

Donnelly, 17, is also in his second season after play a full season last year. He collected six goals, six assists and 12 points in 43 games. He was also drafted by the Nepean Raiders in the 2017 Bantam Protected Draft. The Orleans, Ontario native has four goals and two assists in 16 games this year.

Third Trade: Alexandria then flips ’00 D Evan Huntley in a trade with Casselman in exchange for ’02 D Mikael Bissonnette.

Huntley, 19, has spent his junior career playing in the CCHL Tier 2 level and is in his third year. He has played for Navan (2017-18) and Cornwall (2018-19) for a little bit of time in CCHL Tier 2. During his three seasons with the Char-Lan Rebels, he has 23 goals, 44 assists and 67 points in 106 career games. The Long Sault, Ontario native was terrific on the back end when playing in the CCHL Tier 2 playoffs last year and collected five assists in seven games.

Bissonnette, 17, was drafted 6th round, 112th overall from the Niagara Ice Dogs in the 2018 OHL Priority Selection draft. The year after that, he was drafted by the Hawkesbury Hawks in the 2nd round in the 2017 CCHL Bantam Protected draft. The Rockland, Ontario native collected four goals, eight assists and 12 points in 37 games last season.

Fourth trade: Finally, Alexandria would acquire ’01 F Zachary Power from the Casselman Vikings in exchange for a PDF.

Power, 17, is in his first season in CCHL Tier 2 after playing with the Rockland Nationals Midget AA team last year. So far this season, he has five goals, seven assists in 22 games. He was also drafted by the Erie Otters in the U18 OHL Priority selection in the third round and is an affiliated with the Rockland Nationals CCHL Tier 1 team.

In other news, Alexxandria has picked up ’01 Defenseman Jonathan Paquette off of waivers. He played with the Casselman Vikings this season. Finally, Alexandria has also acquired ’01 Forward Ryan Leonard from the Hawkesbury Hawks in CCHL Tier 1.
