CCHL2 Prospect Report: November

Ottawa, Ontario – With Christmas just around the corner, there is just one more week of CCHL2 action before the first-half comes to an end.

Here is an updated list ’01 and ’02 players playing in the CCHL Tier 2 that could make the jump to the CCHL Tier 1 next season.

#1: ’01 F Thomas Freel (Ottawa Jr. Canadians) 

Freel, 17, was ranked third on the October Prospect Report and now jumps to #1 because of his hot play in November. The Ottawa, Ontario native totaled 17 points (4G/13A) in eight games, helping Ottawa to a perfect 8-0 record and earning the Rookie of the Month. Freel made his CCHL Tier 1 debut two weeks ago with the Ottawa Jr. Senators and has since suited up for three games with them.

#2: ’02 G Owen Bennett (Carleton Place Jr. Canadians) 

Bennett, 16, posted 1-2 record in November and slashed 2.73 GAA / .917 SV % with the Richardson Division’s second place Canadians. The Guelph Storm draft pick stays at #2 for the second straight month and has so far made one appearance with the Carleton Place Jr A Canadians. The Georgetown, Ontario native is currently 10-6, 2.68 GAA and .904 SV% this season.

#3: ’01 F Artyom Shiman (Whitewater Kings) 

Shiman, 17, scored five goals and two assists in six games last month. The Pembroke Lumber Kings prospect tied the CCHL2 record for points in a game with seven on December 2nd and currently leads all rookies in goals with 20 this year.

#4: ’01 F Justin Jamer (Ottawa West Golden Knights)

Jamer, 17, started the season with the CCHL Tier 1 Navan Grads and was sent down to Ottawa West in early October to further his development. So far things have paid off as the 6’4 forward has totaled 24 points in 19 games since his return to the Ottawa West roster. In November he scored seven goals and 12 assists in 13 games.

#5: ’01 F Ryan Glazer (Brockville Tikis)

Glazer, 17, is added to the November Prospect Report after scoring nine goals and three assists in seven games for the surging Brockville Tikis. He currently leads the team in goals (15) and is second in points (24).

Coaches Pick: ’01 F Louis Chabot (Casselman Vikings) 

Chabot, 17, started the season with the Rockland Nationals and was sent down by them to further his development on October 5th. He has since tallied 26 points in 21 games. In November the Ottawa, Ontario native scored three goals and 10 assists in nine games and was the runner up for Rookie of the Month.
