CCHL2 September Performers of the Month Presented by CCM

The CCHL Tier 2 is proud to announce it’s September Performers of the Month, presented by CCM.

Renfrew Timberwolves ’98 F Andrew McIntyre is our Player of the Month, Ottawa Canadians ’99 G Ryan Whitehurst takes home the Goalie of the Month and Carleton Place Jr. Canadians ’01 F Jake Code earns the Rookie of the Month award.

Player of the Month: Andrew McIntyre – Renfrew Timberwolves

McIntyre, 20, leads the CCHL Tier 2 in points (15) and is tied for first in assists (8) and goals (7). The Cobden, ON, native had a six point night (3 G / 3 A) against the Richmond Royals on September 23rd, finishing the month with four multi-point games.

Honorable Mentions: Robbie Pickard – Ottawa Canadians & Blake Kettyle – Westport Rideaus 

Pickard, 20, posted 13 points in eight games (5 G / 8 A). He scored a hat-trick against the Carleton Place Jr. Canadians on September 22nd and is currently first among defencemen in goals, assists and points.

Kettyle, 19, picked up five goals and five assists in just four games this month. The  Perth, ON, native is coming off three straight three point games. 

Goalie of the Month: Ryan Whitehurst – Ottawa Canadians

Whitehurst, 19, went 5-0 with a 1.40 GAA and .939 SV % in September. The 2017-18 CCHL2 Goalie of the Year is first in GAA and second in SV %. The Ottawa native did not have to make 30 saves or more in any of his five starts.

Honorable Mentions: Cameron Scott – Arnprior Packers & Alex Zoutis – Westport Rideaus 

Scott, 19, finished September with a 4-0-1 record, 2.83 GAA and .934 SV %. He made 30 or more saves in four of his five starts and had back-to-back 40 + save games in his first two starts of the year. The ’98 born goalie was acquired by the Packers from the Perth Blue Wings in the off-season.

Zoutis, 19, went 2-1 in three starts, compiling a 3.33 GAA / .933 SV %. The Ottawa, Ontario, native made 59 saves on 63 shots against the Casselman Vikings on September 21st.

Rookie of the Month: Jake Code – Carleton Place Jr. Canadians 

Code, 17, leads all Rookies in goals with seven and tied in points with nine after one month. The Elmira, Ontario native recently had his five-game point streak snapped. He collected two goals in one game against Ottawa and Athens this month.

Honourable Mentions: Thomas Freel – Ottawa Canadians and Kai Nicholson – Arnprior Packers

Freel, 17, collected nine points which is tied for first among rookies with Code of the Carleton Place Canadians. The Ottawa native tallied three goals and six assists in his first eight games.

Nicholson, 16, currently is sixth in the league in points with six and goals with three. He is tied for fifth with three assists. His best game came against the Athens Aeros when he tallied two goals, one assist in a three point night.
