December 11/25 | Ottawa West, Casselman and Arnprior Stay Rolling

Ottawa, ON – A busy Thursday night in the EOJHL featured statement wins, offensive fireworks, and another overtime thriller. Ottawa West continued to apply pressure atop the Martin Division, Casselman unleashed one of the highest-scoring performances of the season, and Arnprior showed once again why they remain the class of the Richardson Division with a dramatic comeback victory on the road.

Ottawa West 4 Winchester 1

Ottawa West wasted little time asserting control on home ice, opening the scoring just over four minutes in as William McCulligh finished a quick strike set up by Thomas Dickey and Seamus Lockhart. Winchester responded midway through the period when Kyler Leboutillier capitalized off a rush to briefly pull the Hawks level, but the momentum was short-lived. Dylan Murdoch restored the Golden Knights’ lead late in the first, snapping home a goal that would ultimately stand as the game-winner.

The Golden Knights continued to dictate play in the second period, extending their lead when Justin Murdoch converted off sustained pressure. Ottawa West put the game away in the third as Antonio Zito buried a well-worked sequence, sealing a composed and structured performance from the home side.

Dustin Riff was sharp in goal, turning aside 28 of 29 shots to earn the win, while Jacob Turpin was kept busy at the other end, making 43 saves in a strong effort despite the loss. Ottawa West improved to 20-4-2-0, while Winchester slipped to 12-13-0-0.

Casselman 12 Richmond 5

Casselman delivered an offensive explosion rarely seen this season, pouring in 11 unanswered goals over a blistering stretch to overwhelm Richmond on home ice. After trading early goals in the first period, the Vikings took complete control in the second, rattling off nine goals in just over nine minutes to break the game wide open.

Casey Hayward led the charge with four goals, while Alexis Lafrance added three of his own as Casselman’s depth overwhelmed Richmond shift after shift. Contributions came from across the lineup as the Vikings turned every mistake into a scoring chance, repeatedly finding seams through the Royals’ defensive structure.

Richmond showed resilience late, scoring four times in the third period, but the outcome was long decided. Casselman finished the night with goals from nine different players, showcasing their offensive depth and confidence.

Casselman moved to 19-4-0-0, maintaining their strong hold near the top of the standings, while Richmond fell to 11-12-0-1 after a difficult night defensively.

Arnprior 5 Smiths Falls 4 (OT)

Arnprior’s winning streak continued in dramatic fashion as the Packers erased multiple deficits before completing the comeback in overtime. Smiths Falls jumped out early and carried a two-goal lead midway through the second period, fueled by strong finishing from Brody Nielissen, Nathan Hovila, and Nico Ilias.

Arnprior began to claw back when Cameron Sheppard struck late in the second, setting the stage for a relentless third-period push. Ethan Smith tied the game early in the final frame before Carter Downs brought the Packers fully back into the contest, forcing overtime after a chaotic final stretch of regulation.

Just over two minutes into the extra frame, Rowan Casey finished the comeback, burying the overtime winner to cap another resilient performance from the league-leading Packers. Gavin Helmer was outstanding in net, stopping 38 shots in his first extended action of the season.

Arnprior extended their winning streak to ten games, improving to 18-5-0-0, while Smiths Falls dropped to 10-14-1-1 despite a strong offensive showing.
