Renfrew, ON – The 2025 EOJHL All-Star Game lived up to the billing Monday night in Renfrew, as Team Martin edged Team Richardson 6–5 in an entertaining, back-and-forth showcase filled with skill, pace, and timely goals. With momentum swinging throughout all three periods, Team Martin did just enough to hold off a late Richardson push in front of a lively crowd at the MyFM Centre.

Team Martin struck first midway through the opening period when Riley Bloom opened the scoring at 5:50, finishing a play set up by Daniel Kyte and Carter Pilon. Just over five minutes later, Kyte doubled the lead himself, snapping home a feed from Bloom and Matheason Cameron to give Team Martin a 2–0 advantage after one.
Richardson responded quickly in the second period, as Ethan Smith pulled his side within one just 1:12 in, converting on a setup from Brendan Lynch and Max Shewfelt. The Martin side answered at 4:09 when Marc-Olivier McCarthy restored the two-goal cushion, but Richardson refused to fade. Shewfelt made it 3–2 at 6:10, finishing a give-and-go with Lynch and Smith.
Momentum briefly swung back toward Martin at 7:57 when Derek Larocque capitalized on a chance created by Pilon and Seamus Lockhart, and it was pushed further at 9:23 as Jacob Perreault added another, converting off a feed from Luke Going. Richardson closed the gap again late in the period, with Nicholas Milbury scoring at 13:38 off assists from Tyson MacCoubrey and Jackson Taylor, sending the game to the third with Team Martin up 5–4.
Team Martin opened the final frame with what proved to be the game-winning goal at 3:28, as Trevor Tangalin finished a play created by Bloom and Cameron. Richardson made things interesting down the stretch, with Smith scoring his second of the night at 6:18 and Milbury following up at 8:38 to bring Richardson within one.
Despite the late surge, Team Martin closed things out, leaning on steady play in goal down the stretch to secure the 6–5 All-Star victory.
In net, Jackson Curran earned the win for Team Martin, stopping 15 of 18 shots in relief, while Dustin Riff handled the opening portion of the game. For Team Richardson, Tristan Hodgson took the loss despite a strong effort, turning aside 18 of 19 shots after entering midway through the contest.
Team Martin’s balanced scoring and timely responses ultimately made the difference in a memorable All-Star showcase that highlighted the depth of talent across the EOJHL.
