Ottawa, ON – Friday night delivered a busy four-game slate across the EOJHL, highlighted by Perth tightening things up defensively at home, Arnprior outlasting Carleton Place in a wild third-period shootout, Ottawa reclaiming a share of top spot with a strong road win, and Ottawa West responding with a shutdown performance in Embrun.
Perth 3 Winchester 1
Perth relied on a strong start and steady goaltending to earn a 3–1 victory at home over Winchester. Ayden Childerhose opened the scoring midway through the first period, finishing a setup from Phoenix Anderson and Matthew Bronsard. Just 90 seconds later, Max Shewfelt added his 16th of the season to give the Blue Wings a quick 2–0 cushion.
The middle frame stayed tight with no scoring, and Winchester finally broke through at 14:38 of the third when Isaac Bradley buried his 10th of the year off feeds from Liam Monaghan and Jackson Hill. With the Hawks pressing late, Perth sealed the win as Colby Hunter hit the empty net at 18:35, assisted by James Lake and Kaius Newberry.
Rowan Williamson delivered one of his best outings of the season, stopping 30 of 31 shots. Jimmy Boyd was busy at the other end, making 38 saves in the loss.
Perth improves to 6-13-1-1, while Winchester falls to 11-12-0-0.
Arnprior 7 Carleton Place 5
Arnprior and Carleton Place combined for an explosive third period, producing nine goals in a chaotic finish that ended with Arnprior extending its win streak to eight games.
After a scoreless first, Jackson Taylor opened the scoring on the power play at 10:43 of the second, before Adamo Ghantous tied it late in the period for Carleton Place. The third period erupted from there—Cameron Sheppard scored on the power play at 4:00, but back-to-back goals from Brady Barnes and Cooper Dawe briefly put Carleton Place ahead 3–2.
Carleton Place would later extend the lead to 4–2, but Arnprior responded decisively. Ethan Smith struck on the power play at 14:30, and although Xavier Boissonneault replied with a Carleton Place power-play goal to put the Jr Canadians up by two, but the Packers took over from there.
Sheppard would cut the lead to one, then added two more goals—including the game-winner with just 22 seconds remaining. Rowan Casey added an empty-net goal in the final seconds.
Cameron Sheppard finished with four goals and 1 assist, Ethan Smith registered one goal and four assists, and Jackson Taylor contributed a goal and two helpers in a dominant offensive showing.
Arnprior improves to 15-5-0-0, while Carleton Place falls to 7-15-2-0.
Ottawa 5 Glengarry 3
Ottawa overcame an early goal against and controlled much of the night in Glengarry, powered by multi-point performances from Daniel Kyte and Riley Bloom.
Glengarry struck just 47 seconds in when Brady Bell converted a setup from Hayden Mader and Codyn Sloan. Ottawa answered quickly—Jason Cyr tied the game at 5:00, followed by Daniel Kyte burying his eighth of the year three minutes later. Riley Bloom extended the lead late in the first, finishing a play from Sam Glover and Jacob Perreault.
Glengarry cut the deficit to one midway through the second on a goal from A.J. Alejandrino, but Ottawa responded on the power play moments later with Glover’s first of the season. Kyte added his second of the night in the final minute of the period to give Ottawa a 5–2 lead.
Mader added one more for Glengarry in the third, but Darcy Murphy closed the door with a steady 30-save performance.
Ottawa improves to 20-4-0-0, keeping pace with Ottawa West atop the Martin Division. Glengarry slips to 12-9-2-1.
Ottawa West 4 Embrun 0
Ottawa West delivered a complete road performance in Embrun, riding a four-goal outburst and airtight goaltending to a 4–0 victory.
Thomas Dickey opened the scoring midway through the first, and the Golden Knights wasted no time adding to the lead in the second period. Cooper Moore scored just 28 seconds into the frame, followed by a power-play marker from Justin Murdoch at 6:13. In the third, William McCulligh buried his 22nd of the season off a setup from Seamus Lockhart and Dickey, who recorded his third assist of the night.
The story was also in goal, where Carter Overhoff turned aside all 23 shots he faced to record the shutout.
Ottawa West improves to 19-4-2-0, keeping pace with Ottawa for top spot in the Martin Division. Embrun falls to 6-11-3-4.
