Ottawa, ON – Saturday night in the EOJHL brought no shortage of offence as four matchups delivered high-energy hockey across the league. Winchester powered past Perth in a back-and-forth battle, Arnprior exploded for double digits to extend their win streak, Renfrew earned a hard-fought win at home against Ottawa, and Smiths Falls grabbed an impressive divisional road victory in Carleton Place.
Winchester 6 Perth 4
Winchester pulled out a spirited 6–4 home win over Perth in a game that saw momentum swing repeatedly before the Hawks took control in the third period.
Trevor Tangalin opened the scoring early on a power-play marker, but Perth answered with Ayden Childerhose’s fifth of the season to tie the game before the intermission. The Blue Wings took their first lead shorthanded early in the second when James Lake stole a puck and beat Jacob Turpin to make it 2–1.
Winchester reset and tied the game later in the frame as Ryan Ross buried a power-play marker, setting up a tense third period.
Just 13 seconds into the final frame, Jesse Henry put Winchester ahead, and seven minutes later Ross struck again to extend the lead. Max Shewfelt’s power-play goal pulled Perth within one, but the Hawks responded quickly—Jackson Hill fired home his fifth of the year to restore the two-goal cushion. Lake added another for Perth in the final minutes, but an empty-net, shorthanded goal from Liam Monaghan sealed the win.
Jacob Turpin stood tall with a 38-save performance.
Winchester improves to 12-12-0-0, while Perth drops to 6-14-1-1.
Arnprior 11 Richmond 3
Arnprior delivered a staggering offensive showcase at home, erupting for 11 goals in a dominant win over Richmond to extend their winning streak to nine games.
The Packers overwhelmed the Royals in the opening period with five goals in under four minutes, beginning with Ethan Smith’s 23rd of the season. Carter Scott added a power-play marker, and Carter Downs scored twice in 56 seconds—sandwiching a goal from Andrew Carter—to give Arnprior a commanding 5–0 lead.
Richmond got on the board early in the second with a goal from Schylar Schapelhouman, but Arnprior responded immediately. Downs completed his hat trick at 10:02, Scott added his second of the night less than a minute later, and Downs struck again late in the frame for his fourth of the game. A power-play marker from Reid Bishop extended the lead to 9–1 through two periods.
Arnprior added two more in the third: Ethan Smith’s second of the game and another power-play strike from Downs, giving him an astonishing five-goal night. Richmond found late goals from Ethan Fleming and Nevyn Trenholm, but the deficit was far too large to overcome.
Tristan Hodgson turned aside 30 shots for the win.
Arnprior continues to roll at 17-5-0-0, while Richmond falls to 10-11-0-1.
Renfrew 3 Ottawa 2
Renfrew earned one of their biggest wins of the season, edging first-place Ottawa 3–2 in a tight, physical matchup at the MyFM Center.
Daxton Markwick opened the scoring just over four minutes in, finishing a crisp passing play from Logan Fleury and Jackson Andrews. Ottawa drew even in the second period when Gavin McCarthy scored his first of the season on the power play.
The Timberwolves regained the lead midway through the third when Mannix Hart buried his seventh of the season. Ottawa pushed back and tied the game again at 14:00 as Jacob Perreault scored his 12th of the year on a well-executed passing sequence.
But with just 1:41 left in regulation, Markwick delivered the dagger—his second of the night—finishing a feed from Fleury for the game-winner. Renfrew held on through Ottawa’s late pressure to secure the upset.
Dylan Elliott was outstanding, stopping 36 shots in the win.
Renfrew climbs to 11-12-1-0, while Ottawa slips to 20-5-0-0.
Smiths Falls 4 Carleton Place 2
Smiths Falls scored early and often on the road, skating to a 4–2 win over Carleton Place behind a strong performance from AP goaltender Beckett Campbell.
The Jr. Bears wasted no time, scoring just 20 seconds after puck drop as Caleb Bourne buried his 12th of the season. Hayden Latour followed it up five minutes later with his first EOJHL goal to make it 2–0. Smiths Falls continued to roll early in the second when Nick Colson scored to stretch the lead to three.
Carleton Place cut into the deficit midway through the second on a goal from Karter Dube, and again in the third when Luke Humby found the back of the net to make it 3–2. But Smiths Falls quickly responded—Colson netted his second of the night at 13:11 to restore the two-goal cushion.
Campbell was steady throughout, stopping 25 of 27 shots for his first EOJHL win.
Smiths Falls improves to 9-14-0-1, while Carleton Place drops to 7-16-2-0.
