Ottawa, Ontario – The Central Canada Hockey League Tier 2 is proud to announced that Winchester Hawks President Dominic Menard is the 2019-20 George Giroux Memorial Award winner, which is given out to the leagues top executive.

Menard now finishes off his second season with the Hawks. He was named President of the Winchester Hawks two years ago. It will be Winchester’s first playoff appearance since 2017-18 season. Head Coach of the Winchester Hawks Bob Gould comments on Dom winning Executive of the year award.

“No one deserves the Executive of the Year more than him.  He has stepped up and has risen to the challenge to change the culture of the Winchester Hawks in CCHL2 and the community.”

As the President of the club, Menard is also the General Manager of the Winchester Hawks. Three years ago, when Keith Ashton was the President and General Manager, Menard was the Assistant General Manager. Gould says that Menard had a big part of hiring him as the Head Coach in 2017-18 season.

Dom Menard would always listen to Bob Gould’s ideas during the season and rarely says ‘No’ when Gould needed to talk with Menard.

“He rarely says ‘No’ to my requests, even tough we were on a budget. I was very happy that he did everything that he could to bring our team together and make the dream a reality to give us our own dressing room in the old Winchester Joel Steele arena. It means so much to our players,” said Gould on Dom Menard success as President.

Gould also mentions that he has built a Friendship with Menard and always supports me as a coach during the two years.

Menard and the Winchester Hawks have two more games left in the regular season against the Char-Lan before facing off against Casselman in the best of three wild card series.
