Ottawa, ON – The Eastern Ontario Junior Hockey League (EOJHL) is proud to recognize Cohen Merkley of the Athens Aeros as the Week 20 Source for Sports Player of the Week.
The 2008-born forward from Athens, Ontario, had a clutch week, recording 5 points (3G, 2A) in three crucial victories as the Aeros moved to within one point of clinching a playoff berth with three games remaining in the regular season.
Merkley opened the week by scoring the game-winning goal in Athens’ road victory over the Renfrew Timberwolves on Tuesday. He followed that up with one goal and one assist in Friday’s road win over the Perth Blue Wings before closing out the week with another goal and assist performance in Saturday night’s home win over Renfrew.
Merkley’s timely scoring and consistent offensive production played a significant role in Athens’ late-season push, highlighting his impact during an important stretch of games.
