Friday/Saturday Recap | Seven Games

Ottawa, Ontario – Originally there were seven games in CCHL2 on Friday night, but due to bad weather and road conditions, five of seven games were postponed. Ottawa Jr. Canadians faced off against Perth and Carleton Place was at the Ma-te-way Center to take on the Renfrew Timberwolves. On Saturday, there were five games as the playoff push heats up.

F/OT | Perth 5, Ottawa 4 (Friday)

The Perth Blue Wings were down 4-2 heading to the third and were able to send the game to OT with goals from Brad Benvenuti and Justin Salter. Brayden Jorssen caps off a multi-point game by scoring the OT winner. Payton Jardine also had a multi-point game with 1G / 1A.

The Blue Wings officially clinch a playoff spot in the Richardson Division. They’ve have won five consecutive games. Will FItzsimmons (2G / 1A), Alex Frechette (1G / 2A) and Chazka Bush (3A) each had a three-point night in the Canadians OT loss. Shots were 32-31 in favour of Ottawa.

Renfrew 6, Carleton Place 4 (Friday)

It was a high scoring game but Renfrew was able to prevail after trailing 2-0 early and giving up a 4-2 lead at some point during the second period. Reid Barber tallies two goals while McGregor, Martin and Langille all contributed by collecting 1G / 2A for a three-point night. Martin’s goal late in the second turned out to be the game winner.

Gourgon, Charbonneau, Wooley and Elgood had all goals for Carleton Place as they snapped their four game winning streak. Brody Bernard made 44 saves for Carleton Place while Dylan Dallaire makes 29 saves in the win. Both teams were 1-for-4 on the power play.

Westport 6, Brockville 2 (Saturday)

Anthony Ieradi extended his goal/point streak to two games by collecting his fourth hat trick of his CCHL2 career. Nathaniel Watson’s goals early in the second was the game winner. Jack Smith scores twice for the fourth time this season while Carswell, Johnston and Boisclair had two assists.

Westport has won three of their last four games. Tanner Flood and Owen Mahoney (U18 Brockville Braves) had the only goals for Brockville. The Tikis continue their struggles as they have loss their third consecutive game. Patrick Leaver made 34 saves in the win.

Arnprior 6, Athens 2 (Saturday)

The Packers scored four unanswered goals from the start of the game until it went to the mid-way point of the second. Gabriel Davis and Danny Carroll each collect 1G / 3A for their first four-point game this season. James Buckley (2G) and Malcolm Brassard (1G / 1A) also had two points.

Arnprior snaps their two game losing streak. Nolan Brien (1 G) continues to stay hot by extending his goal streak to three games and Kyle Gionet snaps his two game goalless drought by collecting his fourth goal this season for a multi-point game.

Winchester 6, Alexandria 3 (Saturday)

The Hawks had to comeback down 2-1 early in the second and collect their 20th win this season. Danny Johnson (1G / 2A) and Kyle Fleming (2G / 1A) each had a good night by collecting three points. Ryan Nielsen’s power play goal with three seconds left in the second, turned out to be the game winner.

Eric Vitale scored his 28th goal this season and is two goals away from 30 goals in his first CCHL2 season. Jacob Lefebvre scores twice in the Alexandria loss. Winchester was 2-for-6 on the power play. Winchester also out-shot Alexandria 45-34. The Hawks can clinch a playoff spot on Tuesday night with a win and a Char-Lan loss.

F/SO | Casselman 4, Char-Lan 3 (Saturday)

The Casselman Vikings extend their winning streak to eight games with a shootout victory over Char-Lan. Nicolas Chartrand scored the shootout winner in the second round. Tucker Shields (U18 Rockland Nationals) scores his first CCHL2 goal late in the second which gave Casselman a 3-1 lead.

Jason Cossette and Chris Egener also tally a goal. Joseph Samson had an amazing night by tally three points for Char-Lan. Shots were 38-26 for Char-Lan and their power play was 2-for-11. Waldhauser and Carter each scored for the Rebels.

Carleton Place 5, Whitewater 3 (Saturday)

The Canadians bounced back after a tough loss on Friday against Renfrew. Nathan Benson, Spencer Marshall and William Inoue had the games first three goals in the first period until Whitewater would collected a goal in each period.

Reid Oliver’s 12th of the season would be the games winning goal with 4:12 left in regulation. Michael Patchell would end the night off with two points by scoring an empty net goal. Sean Tallon also had 1G / 1A while Fleming and Luckovitch scored in the Whitewater loss. Joseph makes 38 saves while Bradley Mitchell makes 20 saves.
