January 25/26 | Ottawa West Shuts Out Glengarry as Arnprior, Richmond and Renfrew Earn Victories

Ottawa, ON – Four games around the EOJHL schedule Sunday featured a dominant shutout performance in Ottawa West, a strong road win for Richmond, a statement effort from Renfrew in Athens, and another multi-goal night from Ethan Smith as Arnprior continued its charge atop the Richardson Division.

Ottawa West 4, Glengarry 0

Ottawa West set the tone early and never looked back, posting a 4–0 shutout over Glengarry at home.

The Golden Knights opened the scoring just 1:28 into the game when Max Shewfelt capitalized on an early chance, finishing a setup from Gavin McCarthy and Connor Weido. That lone goal was all Ottawa West needed through 40 minutes, as both teams were held off the scoreboard in the second period.

The game broke open in the third. Justin Murdoch struck twice, first snapping home a shot midway through the frame before adding his second of the night later on a feed from Thomas Dickey. Seamus Lockhart capped the scoring on the power play late, burying a chance created by McCarthy and Shewfelt.

Carter Overhoff was perfect between the pipes for Ottawa West, stopping all 25 shots he faced to record the shutout. Maxime Mayer turned aside 47 shots for Glengarry in a busy outing.

Ottawa West improved to 29-4-3-1, while Glengarry dropped to 14-17-2-2.

Richmond 4, Carleton Place 1

Richmond controlled play for most of the night and earned a 4–1 victory over Carleton Place on home ice.

After a scoreless opening frame, Cooper Moore opened the scoring late in the first period, finishing a play set up by Nicholas Milbury and Remy St. Amand. Moore struck again on the power play in the second, giving the Royals a two-goal cushion.

Richmond continued to apply pressure as Milbury made it 3–0 later in the period before Carleton Place briefly answered through Matt Legge to cut the deficit. Any hope of a comeback was put to rest late in the third when Dylan Cutts sealed the win with a shorthanded empty-net goal.

Richard Unger was sharp for Richmond, allowing just one goal on 36 shots, while Carson Garod faced heavy traffic at the other end, stopping 46 shots for Carleton Place.

Richmond moved to 17-19-0-2, while Carleton Place fell to 10-25-2-0.

Renfrew 6, Athens 2

Renfrew pulled away in the third period to secure a convincing 6–2 road win over Athens.

The Timberwolves answered an early Athens goal in the second period, with Nathan Pederson and Mannix Hart scoring to give Renfrew the lead. Athens briefly evened things late in the frame, but Renfrew took control for good in the third.

Connor Hanniman scored early on the power play to put Renfrew ahead, before Hart added his second of the night. Lucas Smith followed with his first of the season, and Ian Burnett iced the game with an empty-net marker in the final minute.

Dylan Elliott delivered a strong performance in goal for Renfrew, stopping 33 of 35 shots, while Nicholas Periard saw 42 shots in the loss for Athens.

Renfrew improved to 18-15-2-2, while Athens dropped to 12-18-4-1.

Arnprior 6, Perth 3

Ethan Smith led the way once again as Arnprior defeated Perth 6–3 on home ice.

Smith opened the scoring early in the first period and added a second before intermission to give the Packers control. Perth responded in the second with goals from Ayden Childerhose and James Lake, briefly pulling back within one, but Arnprior answered immediately as Colin Lalonde restored the lead.

The third period belonged to the Packers. Smith completed his hat trick just 23 seconds in, before Cameron Sheppard added another. Smith capped a four-goal night on the power play late, while Perth added a late marker that did little to change the outcome.

Cole King made 39 saves for Arnprior in the win, while Perth cycled through goaltending changes as the Packers pressed offensively.

Arnprior improved to 28-8-0-0, while Perth fell to 13-21-1-2.
