January 28/26 | Hawks Earn Extra Point in victory over Embrun at Home

Ottawa, ON – Overtime drama was on full display Wednesday night in Winchester, as the Hawks scored late in extra time to edge the Embrun Panthers 3–2, snapping a tight, back-and-forth contest that remained up for grabs right until the final whistle.

WINCHESTER 3, EMBRUN 2 OT

Winchester opened the scoring midway through the first period when Jackson Hill finished off a well-worked play, converting a feed from Isaac Bradley and Kaylen Connell to give the Hawks an early lead. The opening frame was physical and evenly matched, with both goaltenders settling in after the breakthrough.

Embrun responded in the second period, using the power play to swing momentum. Xavier Boulanger tied the game at 7:28, finding the net off passes from Andrew Lankester and Justin Raymond. The Panthers carried that energy late into the period and grabbed the lead with three minutes remaining when Ethan Lamey capitalized, burying a setup from Boulanger and Sébastien Labrèche to make it 2–1 Embrun heading into the third.

The Hawks answered early in the final frame. Just over two minutes in, Vincent Anderson jumped on a loose puck and scored to knot the game at two, setting up a tense finish as both teams traded chances but couldn’t find a go-ahead goal in regulation.

That set the stage for overtime, where Winchester struck at 2:40. Asher Goldfarb ended the contest with a decisive finish, taking a pass from Trevor Tangalin and sending the home crowd into celebration.

Jacob Turpin earned the win in goal for Winchester with a 25-save performance, while Jake Dignard was strong for Embrun, stopping 30 shots but taking the overtime loss.

With the victory, Winchester moved to 16-21-1-0, while Embrun picked up a single point and now sits at 8-17-7-5.
