Ottawa, ON – Game 7’s delivered everything.
Monday night in the EOJHL featured two winner-take-all battles, and both delivered emphatic finishes. The Ottawa Jr Canadians stormed back late to eliminate Ottawa West and advance to the Martin Division Final, while the Renfrew Timberwolves completed a stunning comeback from down 2–0 in the series with a dominant shutout victory over Arnprior to punch their ticket to the Richardson Division Final.
Ottawa 4, Ottawa West 2
The Battle of Ottawa went the distance — and the Jr Canadians delivered when it mattered most.
After a scoreless first period, Ottawa opened the scoring early in the second when Danik Marion buried his fourth of the playoffs at 3:27 off a pass from Sam Glover.
Ottawa West responded in the third period with a push that briefly flipped the game. Justin Murdoch tied things up at 8:47, finishing a setup from Thomas Dickey and Dominik Lemieux. Just over six minutes later, Connor Weido gave the Golden Knights their first lead of the night, putting Ottawa West ahead 2–1 with under five minutes remaining.
Ottawa answered immediately.
Sydney Loreto tied the game just 1:10 later, finishing a play from Ryan Coughlan and Ben Cornick to shift momentum right back. Then, at 17:39, Riley Bloom gave Ottawa the lead for good.
Jacob Perreault added an empty-net goal in the final minute to seal the victory.
Jackson Curran was outstanding in goal, making 42 saves on 44 shots in the Game 7 win.
With the victory, Ottawa wins the series 4–3 and advances to face the Casselman Vikings in the Martin Division Final.
Renfrew 5, Arnprior 0
Renfrew completed one of the most impressive turnarounds of the postseason with a dominant Game 7 performance, shutting out Arnprior 5–0 to win the series 4–3.
After dropping the first two games of the series, the Timberwolves stormed back with five wins in the final seven contests — punctuated by a complete effort on the road in Game 7.
Daxton Markwick opened the scoring late in the first period on the power play, finishing a play from Ricky Wilson.
Renfrew took full control in the second period. Connor Hanniman extended the lead at 8:00 off a feed from Parker Evans, before William Herrick added another midway through the frame. Ian Burnett capped off the period with a power-play goal at 19:52 to make it 4–0.
Blake Egan added a fifth goal in the third period as Renfrew cruised to the finish.
Dylan Elliott led the way in goal, stopping all 32 shots he faced in a shutout performance.
With the win, Renfrew advances to the Richardson Division Final, where they will face the Smiths Falls Jr. Bears.
