Ottawa, ON – The Ottawa Jr Canadians moved one step closer to the Martin Division Final Monday night, defeating the Ottawa West Golden Knights 7–3 in Game 4 of their Divisional Semi-Final series. Ottawa’s balanced offensive attack and another steady performance from Jackson Curran helped the Jr Canadians build a commanding series lead.
Ottawa 7, Ottawa West 3
Ottawa wasted little time setting the tone early in the first period. Riley Bloom opened the scoring at 4:24 off assists from Mattias Côté and Jacob Perreault. Ottawa West responded just 45 seconds later when Justin Murdoch tied the game after finishing a pass from Thomas Dickey.
Bloom struck again midway through the period, burying his second goal of the night off another setup from Perreault and Côté to restore the Ottawa lead. The Golden Knights answered late in the frame as Antonio Zito scored with five seconds remaining in the period to send the teams into the intermission tied 2–2.
Ottawa took control in the second period with a three-goal surge. Daniel Kyte gave the Jr Canadians the lead early before Sydney Loreto added a power-play goal with help from Danik Marion. Quinn Young followed minutes later off a feed from Ryan Coughlan, extending Ottawa’s lead to 5–2.
Ottawa West briefly cut into the deficit early in the third when Thomas Dickey scored on the power play. Ottawa quickly shut the door, however, as Kyte scored his second of the night midway through the period before Presley Kelly sealed the win with a shorthanded empty-net goal.
Jackson Curran made 32 saves on 35 shots to earn the victory.
With the win, Ottawa now holds a 3–1 series lead in the best-of-seven Martin Division Semi-Final.
