Marinic scores in double-overtime, Renfrew wins game 1

Carleton Place, ON – The Renfrew Timberwolves took a 1-0 series lead on the Carleton Place Jr Canadians after a 4-3 double OT win on Wednesday inside the Carleton Place Arena.

Luka Marinic scores the GWG in double OT. He becomes the fourth player in CCHL Tier 2 history to score an OT winner in a Wild Card Series. Brad Benvenuti had 1 G / 1 A and McIntyre added two assists.

Artyom Shiman and Brad Richardson were the other goal scorers for Renfrew. Kyle Lightfoot, Oliver Carriere and Brendan Hill netted one goal in the second period for Carleton Place. Ethan Lapenskie made 39-saves in the win.

Game two will be on Friday night in Renfrew. The Timberwolves will have an opportunity to take the series on home ice.
