Ottawa, Ontario – Last night, there were five game on tap in a busy Friday night in the CCHL Tier 2.
Carleton Place 4, Perth 1
After the Canadians loss a very tough game against Winchester last week, they were able to bounce back in dominate fashion and pick up their 14th win of the season. Bill Gourgon collects two goals while Ben Charbonneau and Connor Nicoll also tallied one goal. Mike Patchell also contributed with two assists.
Justin Salter was able to break Brody Bernard’s shutout with 33 seconds left in the Perth’s fourth straight loss. Carleton Place out-shot Perth 41-25.
Embrun 1, Brockville 0
It was a very low scoring game but the Panthers were able to prevail after a second period shorthanded goal by Eric Skyba proved to be the game winner. William Nguyen made 31 saves for his league leading third shutout of the season.
Embrun Panthers snap their two game losing streak. Brockville had Owen Hardy played in his first game as a AP. He plays for the U18 Brockville Braves. The Tikis power-play was 0-for-8 in the game and snap their winning streak at three games.
Renfrew 4, Athens 0
Brayden Stewart’s power-play goal with 48 seconds left in the second prove to be the game winning goal. Renfrew has now won four straight games and have 10 wins on the season. Brad Benvenuti had a big game by collecting three assists on defense.
Sam Klawitter, Ben Langille and Brady Hartwig all had one goal in the third period for insurance. Justin Lafrance made his debut as an Aero and made 47 saves on 51 shots in another loss for Athens.
Westport 7, Whitewater 2
Whitewater had a 2-1 lead in the first period and Westport was able to score six unanswered goals. Zack Pilon contrubuted by getting 1 G / 1 A plus the game winner. Blake Kettyle also had a huge night with 2 G / 2 A and also extend his point streak to five games. Sean James also continued his success by having two goals and one assist.
His point streak is now at two games after his 13 game point streak came to an end on November 8th against Renfrew. Jardine and Tallon had the only goals in the Whitewater loss. It snaps their three game winning streak. Shots were 57-41 for Westport.
Alexandria 8, Winchester 6
This was a wild game to forget. Teams combined for 120 Penalty Minutes during the hockey with lots of penalties happening in the second and third periods. Nico Pozzebon tallied his first four goal game of his CCHL2 career in a five-point night. Also collecting five points was Austin Gaspar with 1 G / 4 A.
Alexandria also had Jacob Lefebvre tallied four points and it snapped the Glen’s four game losing streak. Eric Vitale had a monster game by collecting a season high five goals for Winchester. Shots were 59-53 in favour of Alexandria. The Glens power-play was also 5-for-10 in the victory.
