Morning Recap | Golden Knights win their fourth straight game and Casselman shuts out Athens

Ottawa, Ontario – Two games were happening on Thursday night when Ottawa West took on Whitewater for the final time this year and Athens travelled to take on the Casselman Vikings.

Ottawa West 5, Whitewater 2

The Golden Knights were trailing 2-1 against Whitewater but were able to score four unanswered goals for their 4th consecutive win. Jared Brush picked up his first CCHL2 goal in the third for more insurance. Jack Haymes (1 G / 1 A), Michael Gallivan (1 G / 1 A) and Ric Shin (2 A) each tallied two points on the night.

Sean Kearns also extended his point streak to five games by collecting an assist. Patrick Holmes and Sean Tallon each had one goal in the Whitewater loss. Joseph Weise was tremendous in the goal crease by making 51 saves. Ottawa West outshot Whitewater 56-to-27.

Casselman 7, Athens 0

The Vikings have now won four of their last five games and are on a two game winning streak. Francois Drouin picked up his first hat trick of the season. All of his goals came in the second period. Bissonnette also added three assists in the blowout win.

Nicholas Campbell made 12 saves for his first shutout this season. Grégoire, Fournier, Patterson, Charlebois and Houle each got on the scoresheet with two points. Casselman outshot Athens 48-to-18. Athens are still searching for their first win this season and have been shutout for the sixth time during the year.
