Morning Recap | Westport wins on Wednesday while Ottawa West and Casselman get key wins Thursday night

Ottawa, Ontario – The Westport Rideaus were able to come away with a big win over Brockville on Wednesday. Thursday saw two games, Arnprior vs Casselman at the Jr Brisson Complex in an inter division game and the Ottawa Jr. Canadians were on the road against Ottawa West.

Westport 4, Brockville 2 (Wednesday)

The Westport Rideaus were able to win their fifth consecutive game. Tye Carswell scores twice while Brock Boisclair added three assists. Blake Kettyle also scores his league leading 28th goal on the season on the empty net. Owen Watson scored the first goal back in the first frame.

Ryan Glazer and Tyler Toomey each netted one goal in the Brockville loss. Shots were 35-30 for Brockville. The Tikis have now loss two consecutive games.

Ottawa West 4, Ottawa 0 (Thursday)

It was a dominating performance in this game by the Ottawa West Golden Knights. Noah Haymes scores twice including the game winner which came 38 seconds into the first period. Sean Kearns added two assists while Jared Brush and Stef Mellios each netting one goal.

Golden Knights have won six consecutive games and Brent Pledge-Dickson made 20 saves for his second shutout of the season. The Canadians didn’t have three of their best players in the lineup in this game and have now loss two straight contests. Their next matchup is against Winchester on Friday.

F/OT | Casselman 2, Arnprior 1 (Thursday)

The Casselman Vikings were able to snap an 0-5-1 streak after Alex Charlebois scores the OT winner with 1:06 remaining in extra time. It’s also his 10th goal this season since joining the Vikings. Jason Cossette had the other goal back in the first period.

Kade Leggett picked up a shorthanded goal in the second for Arnprior. The Packers are now 9-0-2 in their last 11 games. Cameron Scott was amazing in net by making 43 saves on 45 shots. Casselman outshot Arnprior 45-25.
