Morning Recap | Whitewater shocks Casselman and Ottawa West wins their sixth straight game

Ottawa, Ontario – There were two games on Thursday, one of them was a school day game between Whitewater and Casselman. The other matchup was Char-Lan vs Ottawa West at night.

Whitewater 2, Casselman 1

No one expected this coming as Whitewater was able to pick up their 4th win this season but have won three consecutive games. Sean Tallon got the game tying early in the third and Josh Reid scores his third of the season with under 2 minutes to play.

Casselman had five AP’s, they were: Vincent Bastien (OJS U18), Nathan Melee (Clarence, NCJHL), ALexandre Cloutier (Metcalfe, NCJHL), Todd McBain (HAW U18) and Jonathan Melee (ROC U18). Also Casselman picked up Austin Ladouceur in a trade with Alexandria in exchange for PDF.

Alex Charlebois had the unassisted goal back in the second period in the loss. The Vikings out-shot Whitewater 42-17. The attendance of the school day game was 417 people.

Ottawa West 6, Char-Lan 4

It was a high scoring game between these two teams. Both teams were tied at 2 heading into the second period and Ottawa West was able to pour on four goals in that frame which proved to be the difference. Stef Mellios snaps his five game pointless drought by collecting 1 G / 2 A.

Jack Haymes (2 G) and Sean Kearns (1 A) each extended their point streaks to seven games. Michael Gallivan and Ryan Carroll also had a good night by tallying two assists. Rylan Iwachniuk scored a highlight reel goal in the third period in the loss.

Noah Konink, Liam MacDonald and AP Justice Brownlee also netted one goal for Char-Lan. Will McEvoy made 30 saves for his seventh victory of the season. Char-Lan out-shot Ottawa West 34-28.
