November 1/25 | Ottawa Extends Lead in Martin Division, Arnprior, Glengarry and Renfrew Victorious in Close Battles

 

Ottawa, ON – It was a busy Friday night around the EOJHL with four games on the slate. Ottawa continued their dominant stretch in the Martin Division, Arnprior claimed sole possession of first place in the Richardson Division, and both Glengarry and Renfrew earned hard-fought wins at home.

 

Ottawa 5, Carleton Place 1
The Ottawa Jr. Canadians strengthened their grip atop the Martin Division with a 5-1 win in Carleton Place. Danik Marion opened the scoring early, and after the Jr. Canadians exchanged goals with the home side’s Matt Legge, Ottawa took control. Carter Laforest, Simon Picard (twice), and Dax McKinnon found the back of the net, while Jackson Curran stopped 22 of 23 shots for the win. Ottawa improves to 13-2-0-0, while Carleton Place drops to 4-10-0-0.

Renfrew 5, Embrun 4 (OT)
Renfrew completed a thrilling comeback on home ice, erasing a 4-1 deficit to edge Embrun 5-4 in overtime. Daxton Markwick led the charge with a hat trick, including the overtime winner on the power play. Mannix Hart and Jacob Lalande added singles for the Timberwolves. Embrun’s goals came from Xavier Boulanger, Tyler Lahaie-Desabrais, Tomy Lariviere, and Wyatt Leblanc. Dawson Zadorozny made 30 saves for Renfrew, who improved to 7-6-1-0, while Embrun fell to 2-8-3-2.

Arnprior 3, Ottawa West 2
The Arnprior Packers took down the previously red-hot Ottawa West Golden Knights 3-2 in a special-teams battle. Charlie Sheppard, Ethan Smith, and Carter Downs all scored with the man advantage for Arnprior, while Justin Murdoch and Dylan Murdoch replied for Ottawa West. Tristan Hodgson was spectacular in goal, turning aside 52 of 54 shots to secure Arnprior’s rise to 8-4-0-0 and sole possession of first in the Richardson Division. Ottawa West now sits at 11-1-1-0.

Glengarry 5, Smiths Falls 4
In Alexandria, Derek Larocque struck twice to lead the Glengarry Brigade to a 5-4 victory over Smiths Falls. Sam Harty, Matt Lavigne, and Brady Bell rounded out the scoring for Glengarry, while Lincoln Chalmers, Caleb Bourne, Brody Nielissen, and Nathan Hovila scored for the Jr. Bears. Parker Sauve earned the win in net with 19 saves, as the Brigade improved to 9-4-1-0. Smiths Falls dropped to 7-8-0-0.
