November 7/25 | Lake’s Hat Trick Powers Perth; Arnprior, Ottawa West, Richmond, and Winchester Victorious

 

Ottawa, ON – Five games were on tap across the EOJHL Friday night, highlighted by a four-point performance from James Lake in Perth’s big win over Carleton Place. Arnprior extended their win streak, Ottawa West rallied for a thrilling shootout victory in Embrun, Richmond earned two points on the road in Glengarry, and Winchester kept rolling at home.

Perth 6, Carleton Place 1

James Lake recorded his first career hat trick and added an assist to lead the Perth Blue Wings to a 6-1 win over the Carleton Place Jr. Canadians.

Phoenix Anderson opened the scoring on a power play late in the first, while Hayden O’Reilly and Jory Leakey extended the lead in the second. Lake struck for his first of the night shorthanded just before the intermission, then added two more in the third to complete the hat trick. Kaius Newberry had four assists, and O’Reilly added three points.

Noah Green scored the lone goal for Carleton Place. Jake Dignard stopped 22 shots for the win as Perth improved to 4-7-1-1, while Carleton Place fell to 5-11-0-0.

Arnprior 5, Smiths Falls 2

Carter Downs stayed red-hot, notching a hat trick and adding an assist to lead the Arnprior Packers to a 5-2 win over the Smiths Falls Jr. Bears.

Carter Scott opened the scoring in the first, and Downs scored twice on the power play before sealing the win with an empty-netter late in the third. Ethan Smith and Jackson Taylor each posted multi-point efforts, and Nathan Carlson made 20 saves for the victory.

Smiths Falls replied with goals from Timothy Bourne and Nathan Hovila. Arnprior improved to 9-5-0-0, while Smiths Falls slipped to 7-10-0-0.

Ottawa West 5, Embrun 4 (SO)

The Ottawa West Golden Knights rallied from a 4-1 deficit to stun the Embrun Panthers 5-4 in a shootout thriller.

Embrun stormed out to a three-goal lead behind two tallies from Yanick Blanchard and singles from Ethan Lamey and Remi Gendron. But Ottawa West responded with three straight goals from William McCulligh — completing a natural hat trick — to force overtime.

After a scoreless extra frame, Dylan Murdoch scored the lone goal in the shootout to give Ottawa West the win. Carter Overhoff made 35 saves, while Jackson Howell stopped 41 for Embrun.

The Golden Knights moved to 13-1-2-0, while Embrun fell to 3-8-3-3.

Richmond 5, Glengarry 3

Gabriel Tremblay scored twice and added an assist as the Richmond Royals earned a 5-3 road win over the Glengarry Brigade.

Tremblay opened the scoring and later notched the eventual game-winner midway through the second. Joel Mullen had a goal and an assist, and Jacob Warnes added insurance in the third.

Derek Larocque, Matheason Cameron, and Kale Grant replied for Glengarry. Sam Nolan turned aside 16 shots in the win. Richmond evened their record at 7-7-0-0, while Glengarry dropped to 10-5-2-0.

Winchester 5, Renfrew 2

The Winchester Hawks continued their surge with a 5-2 home win over the Renfrew Timberwolves.

After trailing 1-0, Jesse Henry and Liam Monaghan scored late in the second to give Winchester the lead. Jackson Hill extended the advantage early in the third, while Vincent Anderson and Trevor Tangalin both added power-play goals to seal it.

Renfrew goals came from Logan Fleury and Daxton Markwick. Jimmy Boyd made 19 saves for Winchester, who improved to 7-9-0-0. Renfrew slipped to 8-6-1-0.
