Ottawa, ON – The Carleton Place Jr. Canadians snapped their recent skid in a big way Friday night, skating to a 6-2 win over the Renfrew Timberwolves on home ice.
After falling behind early on a goal from Caleb Scott, Carleton Place responded quickly with Ethan Shaver’s second of the season to tie the game. The Jr. Canadians then exploded for four goals in the second period, including tallies from Brady Barnes, Will Thompson, Matt Legge, and Xavier Goussis — the latter coming on the power play in the final seconds of the frame.
Goussis added another power-play marker in the third to seal the win, finishing with two goals on the night. Shaver and Legge each posted three-point performances, while Luke Humby chipped in with three assists.
Logan Fleury scored the other goal for Renfrew. William Ross made 25 saves for the victory as Carleton Place improved to 6-11-0-0, while Renfrew dropped to 8-8-1-0.
