Ottawa, ON – EOJHL action Thursday night featured three matchups as Ottawa West hosted Arnprior, Casselman welcomed Glengarry, and Carleton Place traveled to Smiths Falls.
Ottawa West 5 – Arnprior 4
The Ottawa West Golden Knights held off a late push from the Arnprior Packers to earn a 5-4 victory at home.
Cameron Sheppard opened the scoring for Arnprior in the first, but Ottawa West stormed back in the second period with goals from Connor Cole, Connor Weido, and Thomas Dickey to take control. Dickey added another in the third, followed by Griffin Bird’s first of the season to extend the lead.
Arnprior battled back with goals from Brendan Lynch, Colin Lalonde, and Carter Downs to cut the deficit to one, but the comeback fell just short.
Dustin Riff made 28 saves to pick up the win for the Golden Knights, while Nathan Carlson turned aside 32 shots in the loss.
Casselman 3 – Glengarry 1
The Casselman Vikings struck early and never looked back in a 3-1 win over the Glengarry Brigade.
Mathieu Cloutier, Alexis Lafrance, and Owen Mann all found the back of the net in a span of just over two minutes in the opening period to give Casselman a commanding lead. Kaden Myre answered for Glengarry early in the second, but that was as close as they would get.
Émile Pagé was sharp in goal for the Vikings, stopping 27 shots for the win. At the other end, Maxime Mayer made 27 saves to keep the Brigade within reach.
Carleton Place 7 – Smiths Falls 2
The Carleton Place Jr. Canadians erupted offensively in a 7-2 road win over Smiths Falls.
Carleton Place wasted no time, scoring four times in the opening 16 minutes on goals from Brady Barnes, Matt Legge, Byron Box, and Adamo Ghantous. Ghantous and Box each struck again in the second, with Ghantous completing the hat trick in the third.
Smiths Falls got goals from Matthew Mines and Aidan Conroy, but couldn’t slow down the Carleton Place attack.
Sebastien Janisch earned the win in net, while Brandon Partrick and Dean Spry combined in the crease for the Bears.
