Ottawa, ON – In a battle between two of the league’s top teams, the Ottawa Jr Canadians came out on top with a 2–1 overtime win over the previously unbeaten Ottawa West Golden Knights on Tuesday night.
After a scoreless first period, Seamus Lockhart opened the scoring on the power play early in the second for Ottawa West. Ottawa battled back late in regulation when Daniel Kyte tied it with under three minutes to go in the third.
In overtime, Ryan Daze buried the game-winner on the power play at 3:48 to give Ottawa the dramatic victory.
Jackson Curran was outstanding with 32 saves in the win, while Dustin Riff stopped 31 shots for Ottawa West in the loss. Ottawa improves to 11-1-0-0 to remain first in the EOJHL, while Ottawa West falls to 8-0-1-0.
