Ottawa, ON – The Ottawa Jr. Canadians kept their strong start to the season rolling with a 3-1 victory over the Embrun Panthers on Sunday night, improving to 7-1-0-0 and holding onto first place in the EOJHL standings.

Special teams played a big role early on as both clubs exchanged power-play goals in the opening period. Ottawa struck first when Danik Marion buried a setup from Logan Power just under seven minutes in. Embrun responded late in the frame, with Xavier Boulanger finding the back of the net on a power play of their own to send the game into the intermission tied 1-1.
After a scoreless second period, Ottawa took control in the third. Jacob Perreault broke the deadlock just over four minutes in with a quick finish on the rush, putting the Jr. Canadians ahead for good. Embrun pressed late with their goaltender pulled, but Jason Cyr sealed the win with a shorthanded empty-netter in the dying seconds.
Darcy Murphy was stellar in goal once again for Ottawa, turning aside 39 of 40 shots to earn the win. Sebastien Bourgeau kept Embrun in the game with 36 saves on 38 shots in a strong performance despite the loss.
Ottawa sits atop the league at 7-1-0-0, while Embrun falls to 1-3-1-2.
