Ottawa, ON – The Ottawa Junior Canadians captured their first league title since 2013 with a 4-2 victory over Carleton Place on Sunday afternoon.

The Ottawa Junior Canadians capped off a memorable playoff run by defeating the Carleton Place Junior Canadians 4-2 to claim their first EOJHL championship in over a decade. Ottawa built leads of 2-0, 3-1, and 4-1 thanks to goals from Brett Richardson, Daniel Kyte, Danik Marion, and Dylan Turcotte. Carleton Place responded with markers from Jake Begin and Will McCulligh, but Ottawa’s defense and the steady play of goaltender Derrick Champagne, who stopped 30 shots, sealed the win. On the other side, Carleton Place netminder Charlie Larocque turned aside 31 shots in a strong effort despite the loss. Ottawa defenseman Toby Almstedt was named EOJHL Playoff MVP after tallying 15 points, including 2 goals, in 18 games.
