Ottawa, ON – The Eastern Ontario Junior Hockey League (EOJHL) is pleased to announce that Luke Going of the Ottawa Junior Canadians has been named the 2025-26 EOJHL Academic Player of the Year.
The 2005-born Gloucester, ON native exemplifies excellence both on the ice and in the classroom.
A four-year member of the Ottawa Junior Canadians, Going has appeared in nearly 200 combined regular season and playoff games during his EOJHL career, becoming the organization’s all-time leader in games played. During the 2025-26 season, he recorded 5 goals and 12 points in 39 games while serving as one of the league’s premier penalty killers and a key defensive contributor.
Away from the rink, Going is enrolled in a rigorous dual-degree program at the University of Ottawa, pursuing a Bachelor of Applied Science in Chemical Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Computing Technology. He has maintained an outstanding 8.71 cumulative GPA while earning five Dean’s Honour List distinctions throughout his university career.
His academic achievements include receiving an admissions scholarship for academic excellence and contributing as a research assistant in the field of thermochemical conversion of biomass. In addition to his post-secondary accomplishments, Going previously graduated from Garneau Catholic High School with a 94% average and earned a STEM Scholarship recognizing excellence in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
The EOJHL Academic Player of the Year Award recognizes the student-athlete who best demonstrates academic achievement, character, leadership, and dedication to excellence both on and off the ice.
