Ottawa West wins game three and OJC 2-0 series lead

Ottawa, Ontario – The Ottawa West Golden Knights won game three, and the Ottawa Canadians took a 2-0 series lead with a dominant win on Thursday night.

The Golden Knights win their first playoff game against Casselman in CCHL2 history. The last time they won a playoff against the Vikings game was April of 2014. They also snap their nine game losing streak at the Jr. Brisson Sports Complex.

Ottawa West scored three unanswered goals in the second period, and held onto the lead in the third. Jack Haymes, Lucas Brown and Sean Kearns each scored, while Justin Jamer added two assists, giving him four-points in the series.

Casselman outshot Ottawa West 37-29 and 9-4 in the third period. Gabriel Rousselle and Evan Landry scored their goals. Game four will be at the Barbara Ann Scott Arena on Saturday. Casselman leads the series 2-1.

The Ottawa Jr. Canadians became just the second team in CCHL2 Playoff History to score 10-goals or more in a single game. The first team that did it was the Carleton Place Jr. Canadians last season.

Thomas Freel had a five-point game (2G/3A) and Nicolas Seguin netted four-points (2G/2A) in the win. The Canadians outshot the Rebels just 31-21.

Brennan Markell scored his fourth of the playoffs for Char-Lan’s only goal. Game three is at the Earl Armstrong Arena on Saturday.
