Ottawa West wins in Double OT to take 1-0 series lead and Westport leads their series 2-0

Ottawa, Ontario – Game 1 of the Martin Division Semi-Finals got underway inside the Barbara Ann Scott Arena with the Golden Knights hosting Casselman in an intense game while Game 2 of the Richardson Division Semi-Finals had Westport on the road to take on Arnprior in a high scoring affair.

F/2OT | Ottawa West 2, Casselman 1 (Ottawa West leads series 1-0)

It was one of the most anticipated games to start the playoffs. Jack Haymes scored the double OT winner to give the Golden Knights a 1-0 series lead. With the win, the Golden Knights see themselves winning game 1 of the series for the first time since the 2018 Wild Card Series, defeating the Embrun Panthers.

Clay Byers forced OT by scoring his first of the season during the third period. Xavier Léveillé had Casselman’s lone goal in the first period. Shots were equal at 40 a piece. Brent Pledge-Dickson made 39 saves for his first career CCHL2 playoff win. Game 2 goes tonight inside the Jr Brisson Complex with puck drop scheduled for 7:30PM.

Westport 6, Arnprior 3 (Westport leads series 2-0)

Owen Watson collect his first two goals in the playoffs while James, Manderson and Kettyle each tally 1G / 1A for a multi-point night. Avery Arnold also scores his first of the series on the back end. Patrick Leaver makes 49 saves for his second playoff win.

Adam Church was the only player for Arnprior to tally 1G / 1A. Kade Leggett and Joel Driscoll were the other goal scorers. Shots were 52-37 in favour of Arnprior. Westport went 2-for-8 on the power play while Arnprior was 0-for-5. Game 3 goes Friday night inside the Westport Community Arena.
