Ottawa, Ontario – The Winchester Hawks backs were up against the wall when they took on Casselman inside the Winchester Community Centre in a packed barn, while Arnprior had a good crowd for Game 2 against Renfrew.
Casselman 4, Winchester 3
Nicholas Chartrand scores twice including the game winner late in the third period as Casselman moves on to the Martin Division Semi-Finals to take on the Ottawa West Golden Knights. Shawn Patterson and Zachary Fournier were the other goal scorers in the Vikings win.
Nicholas Campbell had to be sharp in between the pipes by making 40 saves and goes to 2-0 in the playoffs. Marco Haw was a big bright spot in this series for Winchester by scoring twice, giving him three goals throughout this series. Kyle Kuehni had his first playoff goal in the Winchester loss.
Shots were 44-43 in favour of Casselman. Cole Defazio also made 40 saves for Winchester. Players that played their last games with the Winchester Hawks and are graduating were Kyle Fleming, Kyle Kuehni, Brady Meldrum and Ryan Nielsen. Congrats on great hockey careers and wish you the best of luck moving forward.
Arnprior 4, Renfrew 1
The Packers were in must win situation on Wednesday night and were able to get the job done. Jared Campitelli and Kai Nicholson had Arnprior on the board with a 2-0 lead. Both goals came just 13 seconds apart early in the first period.
James Buckley would score 49 seconds into the second period and ended off the night with 1G / 1A. Andrew Cuglietta would add insurance with his first of the playoffs. Cameron Scott made 25 saves in the win. Ethan Lapenskie was pulled after allowing four goals on 15 shots.
Dylan Dallaire came in and got the job done by making all 23 saves in the last 34 minutes of this game. Alexander Fleming collects Renfrew’s only goal in the second. Game three goes Friday night inside the Ma-te-Way Activity Centre at 8PM. The winner of that series would face off against the Westport Rideaus in the Richardson Division Semi-Finals.
