PLAYOFF RECAP | Westport and Perth each win Game 1 of the Richardson Division Semi-Finals

Ottawa, Ontario – Game 1 of the Richardson Division Semi-Finals were underway on Sunday with Westport taking on Arnprior and Perth on the road to face off against the Carleton Place Jr. Canadians.

Westport 4, Arnprior 1 (Westport leads series 1-0)

The Westport Rideaus were off to a great start in the first period with Brody Fournier (U18 SF) scoring his first two CCHL2 goals. After Jacob Weedmark cut the lead for Arnprior, Nicholson scored in the second and Boisclair in the third for insurance.

Patrick Leaver made 27 saves in his first CCHL2 playoff win while Cameron Scott made 37 saves on 41 shots in Game 1. Westport went 1-for-1 on the power play while Arnprior’s man advantage went 1-for-4. Game 2 is tonight inside the Nick Smith Centre at 7:30PM. Perth 2, Carleton Place 1 (Perth leads series 1-0)

It was a low scoring game with great goaltending from both teams. Trent Harris scored with 1:18 left in the first period and Alex Caparelli’s game winner in the second period turned out to be the difference in Game 1. Ethan Woolsey had the only goal for Carleton Place.

Alex Zoutis made 29 saves in the win while Brody Bernard only made 16 saves for Carleton Place. The Jr. Canadians were 1-for-2 on the power play while Perth only had one power play opportunity in the second period. Game 2 goes Wednesday inside the Perth Arena at 7:30PM.
