Recap | Busy Sunday with four games

Ottawa, Ontario – Originally there were suppose to be five games in CCHL2 on Sunday, but only one game got postponed between Perth vs Arnprior. Embrun, Richmond, Char-Lan and Westport pick up key wins during the day/night.

Embrun 5, Winchester 2

The Panthers were able to win their 6th win in 2020 and 24th win of the season. Mathieu Brennan scores twice while Riley Carisse had 1G / 1A. The biggest story of the afternoon was Embrun goaltender Marco Latassa makes 41 saves, but scores his first career CCHL2 goal.

Danny Johnson and Kyle Kuehni each collected 1G / 1A in Winchester’s third straight loss this week. The Panthers were 1-for-7 on the power while Winchester’s man advantage was 1-for-4. Shots were 60-43 in favour of Embrun.

Richmond 5, Char-Lan 2

This was a really good entertaining game. The Char-Lan Rebels had a 2-0 lead heading into the third period and Richmond scores five unanswered goals to snap the six game losing streak. Patrick Yates nets two goals for three points. Ryan Mann had 1G / 1A while Ryan Williams collects the game winner.

Darien Johnson makes 34 saves for his 8th win this season. Noah Konink and Dillon Spinner had the only goals in the Rebels loss. Char-Lan is 2-3 in their last five games. Char-Lan did outshot Richmond 36-27.

Ottawa 7, Whitewater 0

Conor Corrigan makes 24 saves for his first shutout of the season. Nicolas Seguin (2G / 2A) and Noel de Kemp (1G / 3A) each led the way offensively with a four-point afternoon. Alex Frechette stays hot with 1G / 1A while Will Fitzsimmons extends his point streak to 11 games and has five goals in three consecutive games.

The Canadians have won two straight games while Whitewater’s struggles continue by losing their fifth straight game. Shots were 26-24 for Ottawa.

Westport 13, Athens 4

The game was tied after the first period, but the Westport Rideaus were able to outscore Athens 10-1 in the last two periods. Anthony Ieradi and Ty Nicholson each collect hat tricks in a five-point game. Also collecting five points with 1G / 4A was Blake Kettyle and Sean James.

Kettyle is two points shy of tying his career high in points in a season. Flanagan and Boisclair were also good by collecting three points. Westport had 12 different players getting on the scoresheet. Liam Silva collects two assists for a five point week for Athens.

Connor Gilchrist, Matthew Hudson, Kyle Gionet and Kohle McCulloch all scored for Athens. Shots were 60-22 for Westport.
