RECAP | Embrun and Perth secure third place in their divisions on Thursday

Ottawa, Ontario – The Embrun Panthers were able to secure at least third place in the Martin Division by sweeping the season series against Casselman. In the other match-upPerth played against Richmond for the first CCHL Tier 2 game being played at TD Place.

Embrun 4, Casselman 2

The Embrun Panthers would score three goals in the first period was the difference in this game. Maverick Labrie scores twice and extends his goal streak three games while Tristian Taillefer collects his 30th goal of the season which turns out to be the game winner. Taillefer is on a three game goal/point streak. Juno Gregoire contributed with 1G / 1A.

Zachary Fournier and Xavier Léveillé each scored for Casselman. Marco Latassa made 35 saves for his 6th win since joining the Embrun Panther on November 28th. Shots were 37-32 in favour of Casselman. The Vikings will finish fourth in the Martin Division and will play the Winchester Hawks in a best of three wild card series.

Perth 6, Richmond 3

The Perth Blue Wings have won five consecutive games as they were able to comeback down 2-1 and score four unanswered goals to get this game wide open. Trent Harris scores twice for his first three-point night with Perth. The Captain Mack Miller contributed by collecting 1G / 3A.

Lynch and Newell got in the action by tallying two points. Ryan Williams had an amazing game with two goals in the loss. Richmond has loss five consecutive games (0-4-1). Alex Zoutis made 33 saves for his 21st win and Josh Lacelle allowed five goals on 54 shots. A total of 49 saves on the night.

Perth’s man advantage went 2-for-2 and Richmond’s power play was 2-for-4. Shots were 55-36 for Perth. Perth will need to win their next two games if they have any chance of going to 1st place in the Richardson Division.
