Recap | Ottawa defeats Perth in Barkley Cup Rematch Tuesday night

Ottawa, Ontario – The Ottawa Canadians took on the defending Barkley Cup Champions Perth Blue Wings on Tuesday night inside the Earl Armstrong Arena. Perth won the Barkley Cup in five games against Ottawa last year to win their first championship since 1996.

Ryan Whitehurst was able to make 33 saves for his first shutout of the season and his sixth shutout of his CCHL2 career. Shots were equal at 33 a piece with Ottawa not taking a single penalty in the game while Perth took four penalties. Ottawa’s power play was 1-for-4 on the night.

Noel de Kemp (2 G / 1 A) and Griffin McGregor (1 G / 2 A) each had three points on the night in Ottawa’s 12th win of the season and currently sit second in the Martin Division with 26 points. Noel de Kemp also extended his point to 12 games. During his point streak, he has 10 goals and 16 assists.

Matthew Maas made his debut as a Blue Wing by making 30 saves and was named the 3rd star of the game. Perth is back in action on Friday when they face Carleton Place. The Ottawa Canadians are back in action tomorrow night when they travel to the Brockville Memorial Centre to take on the Brockville Tikis.
