RELEASE | CCM December Performers of the Month

Ottawa, Ontario – The Eastern Ontario Junior Hockey League is proud to announce it’s CCM Hockey December Performers of the Month. Perth Blue Wings forward Lleyton McLean takes home Forward of the Month, Athens Aeros Defenseman Reid Trueman collects Defenseman of the Month, Perth Blue Wings goaltender Brady McEwan gets Goalie of the Month and Winchester Hawks forward Lucas Leblanc is awarded Rookie of the Month. 

FOTM: ’04 Lleyton McLean (Perth Blue Wings)

McLean, 18, had a big month of December and is now third in the league in points and tied for first in goals. He collected 16 goals, to go along with 10 assists in seven games. His best game came against Valley on December 11th by collecting his first five goal game and six points. McLean is on a 10 game point streak and goal streak. The Perth, Ontario native also added two hat tricks on December 2nd against Whitewater and December 9th against Athens. In four of the seven games played, he had the game winner and has six game winning goals during the season. He has 33 goals, to go along with 26 assists and 59 points in 23 games. He recently played with the Smiths Falls Bears in the CCHL last season.

DOTM: ’03 Reid Trueman (Athens Aeros) 

Trueman, 19, was putting up over 25 minutes a game on the backend as he had one goal and seven assists in nine games during December. He had three assists against Brockville on December 4th, two assists on December 10th against Smiths Falls and then three points on December 11th against Whitewater. Trueman has been one of the defenseman that has been on the ice lots during games and has been a key factor for Athens this season. The Kingston, Ontario native has played in 26 games this year and has three goals, to go along with 20 assists and 23 points. He is third among Defenseman in points.

GOTM: ’03 Brady McEwan (Perth Blue Wings)

McEwan, 19, was impressive during December by going 4-0 in four games. He had a goals against average 1.00 and .975 save percentage. He is 9-1 during his last 10 starts and is averaging 2.27 GAA during the year. His only shutout came against Carleton Place on the road by making all 33 saves. During his three games, he would only allow four goals during that span. He made 38 saves against Smiths Falls on December 4th, 37 saves versus Athens on December 9th and 39 saves versus Brockville on December 16th. The Ashton, Ontario native is 13-2 in 15 games and has a save percentage at .937. His three shutouts rank first in the EOJHL.

ROTM: ’06 Lucas Leblanc (Winchester Hawks)

Leblanc, 16, is named rookie of the month after collecting four goals and two assists in six games. He had two assists on December 3rd against Alexandria, then collects his first career EOJHL hat trick against Embrun on December 16th. He would extend his goal streak to two games against Char-Lan by scoring once before the holiday break. During December, Leblanc played in four games with the Ottawa Jr. Senators as a call up and had some great looks while playing in the CCHL level. He was at times very close by scoring his first goal in the CCHL. The Nepean, Ontario native has played in 25 games with Winchester and has 15 goals, to go along with 13 points and 28 points. He leads the team in goals and points.
