Ottawa, Ontario – The Eastern Ontario Junior Hockey League is proud to announce it’s CCM Hockey October Performers of the Month. Arnprior Packers forward Jake Coleman takes home Forward of the Month, Arnprior Packers defenseman Jacob Bertrand is Defenseman of the Month, Perth Blue Wings goaltender Brady McEwan gets Goalie of the Month, and Arnprior packers goaltender Jaden Cholette earns Rookie of the Month.
FOTM: ’02 Jake Coleman (Arnprior Packers)
Coleman, 19, was impressive during the month of October. He collected eight goals, to go along with twenty assists in 12 games. The Almonte, Ontario native is currently on a two game point streak with four goals and three assists. To start the season, he went on a 10 game point streak. His best performance in October was when he picked up two goals and four assists against Whitewater in a six point effort. He also had another two goal performance on October 12th vs Carleton Place. Coleman is in his first season in the EOJHL after playing in the CCHL last season with Cornwall, Kemptville and Nepean. Before his junior career, he played for U18 Pembroke in the 2019-20 season. It’s very early in the season but he is starting to be a candidate to become the MVP in the Richardson Division.
DOTM: ’02 Jacob Bertrand (Arnprior Packers)
Bertrand, 20, collected three goals and eleven assists in nine games to become the Defenseman of the Month. The Almonte, Ontario is in his final season in the EOJHL with the Packers. He spent the 2019-20 season with the Carleton Place Jr. Canadians and played four games in the 2020-21 developmental scrimmages. His best performances were on October 1st where he collected two goals for three points against Valley and then four assists against Valley on October 15th. Between October 12th to October 16th, he was on a four game point streak recording one goal and eight assists.
GOTM: ’03 Brady McEwan (Perth Blue Wings)
McEwan, 19, was hot during October by going 6-1 in seven games with two shutouts, posting a 2.33 GAA / .933 SV%. McEwan started off the season by winning his first four starts and only allowed six goals. His two shutouts came against Carleton Place on September 30th when he made 24 stops and then against Valley on October 29th by making 32 saves. The Aston, Ontario native played with the Carleton Place Canadians last season as the backup and was able to play 19 games. Before playing in the CCHL he spent two seasons in 2018-19 and 2019-20 with the U18 Carleton Place Canadians.
ROTM: ’06 Jaden Cholette (Arnprior Packers)
Cholette, 16, was on a roll during the month of October. He started in five games and went 5-0 with one shutout, recorded a 2.00 GAA / .932 SV%. Cholette only allowed 10 games in that stretch and had 138 saves on 148 shots. His two best games where he only allowed one goal or less was against October 8th against Whitewater by allowing one goal on 28 shots and his one shutout came on October 23rd against Valley by making all 35 saves. He is first in Goals Against Average as a rookie and second in SV% as a rookie. He is also tied for first in the league in GAA. The Gloucester, Ontario spent last season with the U18 Nepean Raiders by playing in 16 games and won the HEO Championship that season. In the playoffs, he went 4-1 with a 2.41 GAA / .901 SV%.
