RELEASE | Week 16 Stars of the Week

Ottawa, Ontario – The Eastern Ontario Junior Hockey League is proud to announced it’s week 16 stars of the week. The first stars goes to forward Ben Langille of the Perth Blue Wings, second star is awarded to Rhett Palmer of the Athens Aeros and third star went to Athens Aeros forward Andrew Sprague. Honorable Mention goes to forward Matthew Maas of the Perth Blue Wings.

First Star: ’02 Ben Langille, Perth Blue Wings (5G / 8A)

Langille, 20, collected five goals and eight assists in four games. It’s the fourth time this season that the Stittsville, Ontario native was named a star of the week. Langille’s collected two goals and six assists during a 10-2 win over Brockville. It’s the most points that Langille has had throughout his EOJHL career. The next game, he led his team to a 5-3 win over Athens by collecting a hat trick and finished the game with four points. Langille has 32 goals, to go along with 47 assists and 79 points in 39 games.

Second Star: ’04 Rhett Palmer, Athens Aeros (9G / 4A)

Palmer, 17, had nine goals and four assists in five games. He collect his first two hat tricks in the EOJHL on March 1st vs Brockville and March 6th vs Valley. He also had five points against Valley. It’s the most points that Palmer has had in a game this season. Palmer collected other goals against Westport, Perth and Valley this week. He is on a a seven game goal steak with 11 goals and has 15 goals during his last 10 games. His point streak was also extended to 14 games (17 G / 11 A). The Canton, New York native has 24 goals, to go along with 17 assists and 41 points in 33 games.

Third Star: ’02 Andrew Sprague, Athens Aeros (4G / 8A)

Sprague, 19, tallied four goals and eight assists in five games. He collected goals against Brockville, Perth and Valley. He had two three point games against Brockville and Perth. Sprague had one point game against Valley on March 6th. His assist streak is at five games. He is on a 14 game point streak from Feb 6th to March 6th (12 G / 18A). The Kingston, Ontario is in his first full season with Athens after playing with Westport in the 2020-21 developmental scrimmage season. He has 26 goals, 37 assists and 63 points in 37 games this season.

Honorable Mention: ’02 Matthew Maas, Perth Blue Wings (2 wins, 1 shutout, 1.00 GAA / .962 SV%)

Maas, 20, was terrific in between the pipes in two games against Brockville on March 2nd by allowing only two goals on 32 shots and collected 20 saves against Whitewater on March 5th to get his 4th shutout of the season. Maas is tied for 1st in the EOJHL with shutouts. The Kingston, Ontario native has played in 20 games this season and is 15-2-1, four shutouts, 2.27 GAA / .926 SV%.
