RELEASE | Week 7 Stars of the Week

Ottawa, Ontario – The Eastern Ontario Junior Hockey League proud to announced it’s week 7 stars of the week. First Star goes to Carleton Place Jr. Canadians goaltender Jackson Pundyk, second stars is awarded to Ottawa West forward Jack Haymes, and third star was given to Valley Timberwolves forward Matt Goudreault. Honorable Mention went to Richmond Royals forward Kylan Tavares.

First Star: G Jackson Pundyk, Carleton Place Jr. Canadians (3 wins, 1 shutout, 2.00 GAA / .933 SV%)

Pundyk, 17, was on a roll during the three games by winning against Whitewater and collecting two wins over the Weekend against Athens. The Kanata, Ontario native started the week off strong by making 21 saves for his first career EOJHL shutout against Whitewater on November 11th. He faced off against the Athens Aeros twice. On November 13th, it was a high scoring affair as he stopped 27 of 31 shots in a 5-4 win. His last game on November 14th was his best performance throughout the season. Pundyk had to face 38 shots and allowed only two goals as Carleton Place was outshot 38-16 in the game. He made 36 saves for his 9th win this season. He is tied for first in the league in wins (9), 5th in GAA (2.10) and 6th in SV% (.931)

Second Star: F Jack Haymes, Ottawa West Golden Knights (1G / 4A)

Haymes, 20, collected one goal and four assists during his two games this week. He is currently on a two game point streak. The Ottawa, Ontario native collected two assists in the shootout win over Char-Lan on Nov 11th and then had 1G/2A against Alexandria on Nov 12th on the road. Haymes is off to a great start to the season and is in his final EOJHL season with the club. Between Oct 7th to Nov 4th, he went on a eight game point streak by collecting five goals and 20 assists. His point streak snapped on Nov 5th against Embrun. Haymes is siting 1st in the EOJHL in assists (25) and 2nd in points (31).

Third Star: F Matt Goudreault, Valley Timberwolves (3G)

Goudreault, played two games against Westport on Nov 12th and Arnprior on Nov 14th. He is currently in his first season in the EOJHL. On Nov 12th against Westport, he collected his first career EOJHL hat trick including the game winner late in the third. Between Oct 17th to Oct 24th, he went on a three game point streak by tallying 1G/3A. Goudreault has four goals and three assists in 13 games to start the season.

Honorable Mention: F Kylan Tavares, Richmond Royals (2G / 2A)

Tavares, 20, collects two goals and two assists in two games this week. After not recording a point against Embrun on Nov 12th, he had a four point game against Winchester on Nov 14th in a 5-2 win. It’s also his second four-point game of the season. The last time Tavares recorded four points was against Alexandria on Nov 7th in a 4-3 win. The Perth, Ontario native now leads his team in points with 14. He has six goals, to go along with eight assists in 14 games this season.
