RELEASE | Week 9 Stars of the Week

 

Ottawa, Ontario – In this edition of week 9 Stars of the Week, the Eastern Ontario Junior Hockey League decided to do something different. Instead of doing our regularly three stars, it will feature four stars this week. The first star goes red hot Arnprior Packers forward Nolan Mcgregor, second star went to Ottawa West netminder Jordan provost and third star belongs to Athens Aeros defenseman Reid Trueman. The four star was awarded to former Richmond Royal Patrick Yates, who had his #6 retired in the Richmond Memorial Centre on November 28th.

First Star: ’02 Nolan McGregor, Arnprior Packers (2G, 5A)

McGregor, 20, has been named a star for the third time this season. He was named second star in Week two and seven during the season. The Braeside, Ontario native has 24 goals, to go along with 27 assists in 17 games this season. He has extended his point streak to seven games after collecting 1G / 4A on November 25th against Perth and then had 1G / 1A against Athens on November 27th. The Packers would go on to win their two games. He continues to lead the lead in points per game at 3.00 and game winning goals at seven.

Second Star: ’02 Jordan Provost, Ottawa West Golden Knights (3 wins, 2.89 GAA / .920 SV%)

Provost, 20, had one impressive week with two wins in the EOJHL and collected his first CCHL win with the Nepean Raiders. The Ottawa, Ontario native started the week by making 21 saves in a 6-2 win over Winchester on November 26th. He would end the week by making 28 saves en-route to a 3-2 OT win over Char-Lan on November 26th. The next day, Provost got called up to be the starting goaltender for Nepean on November 27th against the Rockland Nationals. He turned in an impressive performance by making 46 saves on 49 shots in a 5-3 victory. He is 9-2-2, to go along with a 2.36 GAA / .925 SV% and one shutout this season.

Third Star: ’03 Reid Trueman, Athens Aeros (6A)

Trueman, 19, collected six assists in two games. He was on for every single goal in the game against Carleton Place including the overtime goal. He had a career high five assists on November 26th. Trueman would add one assist on November 27th in a one goal loss to Arnprior. The Kingston, Ontario has two goals and 13 assists in 17 games as he is in his fourth full season with Athens. His 15 points this season, ties a career high from last season where he had 3 goals and 12 assists in 36 games. Trueman has seven assists in his last three games.

Fourth Star: ’99 Patrick Yates, Richmond Royals (72G / 98A during his EOJHL career)

Yates, 23, had his jersey retired by the Richmond Royals on November 28th. The North Gower, Ontario native played with the Richmond Royals for five season starting from 2015-16 as a call up. He collected 30 points in 45 games in 2016-17 as he and his team went all the way to the EOJHL finals against Casselman. His best season with Richmond was in the 2017-18 season where he collected 28 goals and 31 assists in 50 games. He then had 30 points in 2018-19 and then 50 points in his age 20 year in 2019-20. Congratulations to Patrick Yates on getting his #6 retired inside the Richmond Memorial Centre and had one heck of a EOJHL career. He played in 181 career EOJHL games with Richmond and had 72 goals, 98 assists and 170 points.
