Richmond Royals Recognized as EOJHL’s Top Defensive Team for 2024-25 Season

The Eastern Ontario Junior Hockey League (EOJHL) is proud to announce that the Richmond Royals have been named the league’s top defensive team for the 2024-25 season. The Royals secured the Best Team Goals Against title by allowing just 127 goals over 48 games, averaging an impressive 2.65 goals against per game.

Anchoring the Royals’ strong defensive performance was the goaltending tandem of Ethan Dinsdale and Sam Nolan, who provided steady play between the pipes following Nolan’s return at the trade deadline. Earlier in the season, Cole King was also instrumental in the team’s success before being moved to the Winchester Hawks at the deadline.

The Royals’ defensive prowess extended beyond the crease, with a committed blue line led by graduating players Simon Yang, Finn Almstedt, Gage Bujold, and trade deadline acquisition Keenan Woods, all of whom played a crucial role in the team’s defensive structure.

Head Coach Shawn Couturier and his staff implemented a disciplined system that proved to be one of the league’s toughest to break, culminating in this well-deserved recognition.
