Saturday Recap | Athens wins with seven seconds left while Perth and Ottawa West win two straight

Ottawa, Ontario – Athens took on Carleton Place in an high scoring entertaining game with Athens scoring with seven seconds left to secure the win. Perth took on Whitewater and Westport played Valley on the road in the Richardson Division and then Char-Lan hosted Ottawa West in the Martin Division.

Athens 6, Carleton Place 5

The Athens Aeros were trailing 5-4 heading into the third period. Rhett Palmer had the tying goal early and then Andrew Sprague would score with seven seconds left to secure the victory for Athens. Ty Nicholson collected two goals for a three-point night. The other goal scorers were Letham and Ferrie. Athens went 1-for-7 on the power play.

Grady Logue collected 1G/2A for a three-point night. Seibert and Ireland also added 1G/1A. Carleton Place went 2-for-2 on the power play. Shots were 37-35 for Athens.

Perth 3, Whitewater 1

Perth has now won two straight games as they pick up four points on the road this weekend. Johnston, Kazda and Mierau each scored one goal for Perth. Gabriel Arrigo made 22 saves for his first win as a member of the Perth Blue Wings. They are 3-0-1 in their first four games.

William Roy tallied the only Kings goal in the loss. Whitewater goes to 0-3 to start the season.

Ottawa West 9, Char-Lan 2

Ottawa West dominated Char-Lan on the road in a blowout win. Sean Kearns scores the hat trick while Nick McFarlane (2G/2A) and Jack Haymes (1G/3A) each collected four points on the night. Troccoli-Roik had multi points (1G/1A) while Aston and Brush were the other goal scorers for Ottawa West. They have won two consecutive games and are 3-1 this season.

Char-Lan goes to 1-2. Molinaro and Hehn had the Rebels only goals in the loss. Shots were 39-16 in favour of Ottawa West.

Westport 0, Valley 0
