September 20/25 | Jr. Canadians Take OT Thriller, Brigade Ride Mader’s Pair to Victory

 

Ottawa, ON – EOJHL action continued Saturday night with a pair of games as Carleton Place hosted Athens and Glengarry welcomed Renfrew.

Carleton Place 4 – Athens 3 (OT)

The Carleton Place Jr. Canadians picked up their first win of the season in dramatic fashion, edging Athens 4-3 in overtime.

Adamo Ghantous opened the scoring and added a second late in the middle frame to keep Carleton Place even after two goals from Rylan Boyer put the Aeros in front. In the third, Ethan Shaver gave the Jr. Canadians the lead, but Jaxon Viau forced overtime with a late equalizer for Athens.

In the extra frame, Luke Humby played hero, burying the winner at 3:23. Callum Clare earned the win with 39 saves, while Marshall Greig stopped 36 for Athens in the hard-fought loss.

Glengarry 3 – Renfrew 1

The Glengarry Brigade defended home ice with a 3-1 win over Renfrew.

Hayden Mader scored twice in the opening period, including a power play marker, to set the tone. After Preston Charron tied the game briefly for the Timberwolves on the power play, Glengarry regained control. In the third, Matheason Cameron added insurance with a shorthanded tally to put the game away.

Parker Sauve stood tall in net for Glengarry, making 20 saves in the win. Dawson Zadorozny stopped 20 shots for Renfrew in the loss.
