Ottawa, ON – EOJHL action continued Wednesday with three games on the schedule as Athens traveled to Ottawa West, Winchester visited Casselman, and Glengarry hit the road to face Smiths Falls.
Ottawa West 2 – Athens 0
The Ottawa West Golden Knights earned a 2-0 shutout win over the Athens Aeros.
William McCulligh provided all the offense with a pair of goals, scoring once in the second and once in the third.
The story of the night was Dustin Riff, who turned aside all 32 shots he faced for the shutout in his first game against his former team. Marshall Greig made 29 saves in goal for Athens.
Casselman 9 – Winchester 4
The Casselman Vikings erupted offensively, rolling past Winchester 9-4 on home ice.
Téo Webb led the charge with a hat trick and an assist, while Marc-Olivier McCarthy scored twice and added two helpers. Tristan Simoneau, Mathieu Cloutier, Jacob Bellavance, and Makail Poole-Fournier also chipped in goals for Casselman.
Daniel McDowell scored twice for Winchester, with Vincent Anderson and Caleb Grady adding singles.
Myles Boudreau earned the win with 20 saves for Casselman. Jimmy Boyd and Jacob Turpin split duties in the Hawks’ crease, combining for 35 saves.
Glengarry 5 – Smiths Falls 3
The Glengarry Brigade picked up a 5-3 road victory in Smiths Falls.
Matt Lavigne had a big night with two goals and an assist, while Hayden Mader, Derek Larocque, and Maxime Bazinet rounded out the scoring.
Aidan Conroy scored twice for the Jr. Bears and Brody Nielisson added a single, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Glengarry’s special teams.
Maxime Mayer was sharp in goal for the Brigade, stopping 46 shots in the win. Dean Spry turned away 39 shots for Smiths Falls.
