September 26/25 | Perth Stays Strong at Home, Athens Edges Embrun, Glengarry Tops Vikings, Richmond Rolls in Winchester

 

Ottawa, ON – EOJHL action was busy Friday night with four games on the schedule as Carleton Place visited Perth, Athens traveled to Embrun, Glengarry faced Casselman in Maxville, and Richmond squared off against Winchester.

Perth 5 – Carleton Place 2

The Perth Blue Wings skated to a 5-2 win over Carleton Place on home ice.

Max Shewfelt scored twice, including a late power-play empty-netter, while Kaius Newberry, Nathan Emery, and Caleb Fiore also found the back of the net for Perth.

Matt Legge and Ryan McNeil provided the goals for Carleton Place.

Alex Beaulne made 26 saves in the win, while Callum Clare turned aside 33 shots for Carleton Place in the loss.

Athens 3 – Embrun 2 (SO)

The Athens Aeros edged Embrun 3-2 in a shootout on the road.

Baron Gleason and Nolan Tym scored in regulation for the Aeros, while Xavier Boulanger struck twice on the power play for Embrun.

In the shootout, Garritt Palmer and Cohen Merkley converted to seal the win for Athens.

Marshall Greig was perfect in relief, stopping 14 shots and both shootout attempts to earn the win. Sebastien Bourgeau made 23 saves for Embrun in the SOL.

Glengarry 4 – Casselman 2

The Glengarry Brigade held off the Casselman Vikings for a 4-2 win in Maxville.

Glengarry raced out to a 3-0 lead on goals from Zach Boltz, Carter Rolland, and Maxime Bazinet before Casselman responded with a pair from Owen Mann and Alexis Lafrance.

Rylan Wolowicz provided the insurance marker in the third period to secure the Brigade victory.

Maxime Mayer made 28 saves for Glengarry, while Dominic Amodeo stopped 15 shots for Casselman.

Richmond 9 – Winchester 4

The Richmond Royals exploded offensively in a 9-4 road win over Winchester.

Nevyn Trenholm led the way with a hat trick, Tyson MacCoubrey scored twice, and singles came from Joel Mullen, Wesley Bean, Parker Stretch, and Ethan Fleming.

Winchester replied with goals from Trevor Tangalin (2), Isaac Bradley, and Liam Monaghan.

Richard Unger made 21 saves for the win, while Jacob Turpin and Jimmy Boyd combined for 29 saves in the Hawks’ net.
