Richmond 3 – Athens 2 (OT)
The Richmond Royals pulled off a 3-2 overtime win against the Athens Aeros in Stittsville.
After a scoreless first period, Enrick Girard gave Richmond the lead late in the second. Athens responded in the third with goals from Jaxon Viau and Rylan Boyer to move in front, but Dylan Cutts tied the game on the power play with under two minutes remaining to force overtime.
In the extra frame, Tyson MacCoubrey played hero, scoring at 2:10 to seal the victory for the Royals.
Sam Nolan was solid in net for Richmond, turning aside 38 shots in the win. Carson Garrod was strong for Athens as well, stopping 34 of 37 in the overtime loss.
