Tuesday Recap | Ottawa and Westport grab victories

Ottawa, Ontario – Ottawa hosted Richmond and Westport traveled to Char-Lan in Tuesday night CCHL2 action.

F | Ottawa 6, Richmond 2 

The Ottawa Jr. Canadians got back in the win column on Tuesday, recording their 35th win this season. They must win their remaining games to tie the Casselman Vikings for the CCHL2 record for wins in a single season with 40.

Andre Giordano tallied a season-high three assists and Noel de Kemp scored his 24th goal of the season, tying Artyom Shiman for the rookie lead. Jacob Ramalho netted his first goal of the season and Conor Corrigan 21-saves for the win.

The Royals are now 1-2 in February but are officially the first CCHL2 team eliminated from playoff contention. Ethan Vaslet and Ryan Bouley scored their only goals. OJC outshot them 37-23.

F | Westport 4, Char-Lan 3

The Westport Rideaus scored two unanswered goals in the final minute of the second period to take the lead. Michael Anson scored their fourth goal, giving him the GWG and his 11th of the season – snapping his six game goalless streak.

Blake Kettyle extended his point-streak to nine games after scoring a goal and two assists. With the goal, he becomes just the second player this season to score 30 goals. They’ve now won three straight games.

Westport outshot Char-Lan 42-33 in the win. Liam McDonald and Evan Huntley each had 1G/1A in the loss. The Rebels have dropped two straight games and are just four points ahead of the Winchester Hawks for the fifth and final playoff spot in the Martin Division.
