Week 14 Stars of the Week


Ottawa, Ontario – The CCHL Tier 2 is proud to announce its Week 14 Stars of the Week. Ryan Whitehurst gets the first star for the Ottawa Jr. Canadians and second star goes to Richmond Royals forward Adam Goodfellow. The third star is going to Winchester Hawks forward Eric Vitale. Finally, Honorable Mention goes to Quinn Vanhoof of the Whitewater Kings.

First Star: G Ryan WhitehurstOttawa Jr. Canadians (43 Saves, second shutout this year, 1 A)

Whitewater, 20, made 43 saves for his second shutout this season and collected an assist on OJC’s fourth goal against Athens on Saturday night. The Ottawa, Ontario native is in his final season on junior hockey and is on the Canadians for the third consecutive year. It was also his ninth shutout of his CCHL2 career. He collected two shutouts in 2017/18, five shutouts in 2018/19 and now this year two shutouts. He leads the league in Goals against average (2.07) and is also second in the league in Wins (12) and Save Percentage (.940).

Second Star: F Adam GoodfellowRichmond Royals (4 G / 1 A)

Goodfellow, 19, netted a natural hat trick against the Char-Lan Rebels on Saturday night. It’s also his second career CCHL2 hat trick. He also tallied 1 G / 1 A against the Ottawa Canadians on Tuesday Dec 17th in a 6-4 win. He was on a four game point streak between December 17th to December 21st (4 G / 4 A). The Kanata, Ontario native has 11 goals, to go along with 14 points in 26 games this season. Last season, he tallied 21 goals and 20 assists in 40 games.

Third Star: F Eric Vitale, Winchester Hawks (2 G / 5 A)

Vitale, 17, continues to stay hot after collecting five-points in a comeback win against Casselman on December 19th (1 G / 4 A). It’s his second five-point game of the season. The last time Vitale collected five-points, was when he scored five times against Alexandria on November 15th. The next night, Vitale was able to extend his point streak to three games by tallying 1 G / 1 A against Arnprior on December 20th. The Thornhill, Ontario native has 19 goals and 10 assists in 21 games. He won November’s Player of the Month at the start of December.

Honorable Mention: F Quinn Vanhoof,  Whitewater Kings (4 G / 1 A)

Vanhoof, 19, scored four-goals and added one assist in the win against Athens on December 22nd. He has split time this season with Arnprior and Whitewater this season. It’s also his third hat trick of the season and his first four-goal performance. In 11 games this season, he has 13 goals, to go along with 10 assists for 23 points in 11 games. The Petawawa, Ontario native is in his third season and has collected 42 points in his first two years with the Whitewater Kings.
