Week 17 Stars of the Week

Ottawa, Ontario – The CCHL Tier 2 is proud to announce its Week 17 Stars of the Week. Brody Bernard gets the first star for the Carleton Place Jr Canadians and second star goes to Westport Rideaus forward Tye Carswell. The third star is going to Ottawa Jr Canadians forward George Daher. Finally, Honorable Mention goes to Ben Langille of the Renfrew Timberwolves.

First Star: G Brody Bernard, Carleton Place Jr Canadians (31 Saves + first career shutout)

Bernard, 18, is in his second season in CCHL Tier 2. He picked up his first career CCHL2 shutout on January 10th vs Perth on the road by making 31 saves. It’s his 13th win this season and 21st win of his CCHL2 career. The Ottawa, Ontario native is 13-6 in 22 games, posting a 2.79 GAA / .895 SV%. Last season, Bernard only played in 17 contests and won eight of them, to go along with a 3.03 GAA / .902 SV%. He is has three straight games as a starter.

Second Star: F Tye Carswell, Westport Rideaus (4 G)

Carswell, 18, is also in his second full CCHL2 season after collecting 17 points last year. This week, he collected back-to-back two goal performances against Brockville and Richmond. He extends his point streak to five games and has six goals plus as assist in his last five games. Earlier on this year, Carswell had a six game point streak between September 28th to October 18th. The Gananoque, Ontario native is having a good season by scoring 15 goals, to go along with 18 assists in 31 games.

Third Star:  F George Daher, Ottawa Jr Canadians (2 G / 3 A)

Daher, 17, leads his team to a 1-2 week after tough losses to Alexandria and Ottawa West. The only game that OJC won was on Friday against Winchester. He collected 1 G / 1 A last Tuesday against Alexandria and 1 G / 2 A on Friday against Winchester. He has eight points in his last four games. Before joining the Canadians this year, Daher spent his two years with the Nepean Raiders Midget AAA squad. The Ottawa, Ontario native has 12 goals, to go along with 15 assists in 30 games and is riding a two game point streak.

Honorable Mention: F Ben Langille, Renfrew Timberwolves (2 G / 1 A)

Langille 17, leads his team with 30 points in his first season with Renfrew. This year, he has 16 goals and 14 assists, to go along with four call up games with the Kanata Lasers in CCHL Tier 1. He led his team to victory on Friday against Alexandria by tallying two goals and one assist to extend his point streak to three games. During the point streak, he has three goals and three assists. This is Langille’s third three game point streak of the season. The last time that happened was between October 8th to October 19th (3 G / 3 A).
