Week 9 Stars of the Week

Ottawa, Ontario – The CCHL Tier 2 is proud to announce its Week 9 Stars of the Week. Eric Vitale takes home the first star, Nico Pozzebon gets second star, and goaltender William Nguyen has the third star. Honorable Mention goes to Patrick Yates.

First Star: F Eric VitaleWinchester Hawks (5 G)

Vitale, 17, collected his first five-goal game of his CCHL Tier 2 career in a loss to Alexandria. He started the season with the Kemptville 73s for five games in the CCHL before being sent down to Winchester for development. During his time with Winchester, he has played 12 games and has collected 12 goals, 4 assists and 16 points. This month, he has 10 goals and 2 assists and has 10 goals in the last five games.

Second Star: F Nico PozzebonAlexandria Glens (4 G / 2 A)

Pozzebon, 17, had his first five-point game and his first four-goal game of his CCHL Tier 2 career leading his team to a win against Winchester and recorded one assist in the loss to Carleton Place. He collected 45 points in 26 games while playing for the Eastern Ontario Cobras in Midget AA last year. Pozzebon also has a four game point streak with 5 G / 5 A. He now leads the team in goals (8), tied for second in assists (8) and leads the team in points (16).

Third Star: G William Nguyen, Embrun Panthers (2-0,  1 SO, 1.00 GAA / .963 SV%)

Nguyen, 17, was really good between the pipes by making 62 saves of 64 shots leading his team to two victories over Brockville and Perth. It was a 1-0 win over Embrun as Nguyen collected his league leading third shutout of the season and his third of his CCHL Tier 2 career. He is also tied for the league lead in wins (9), is first in GAA (1.78) and first in SV% (.952).

Honorable Mention: F Patrick Yates, Richmond Royals (1 G / 4 A)

Yates, 20, had a very good week by collecting one assist in a win against Athens and collected 1 G / 3 A in their win against Arnprior on Sunday afternoon. Yates is coming off a tough season after putting up 30 points, but in the 2017-18 season, he collected 28 goals, 31 assists and 59 points in 50 games. He is off to a great start of the season by collecting nine goals and twelve assists in 16 games.
